Salt

As do i my friend, as do i, and i've been checking the BBFC website almost daily for years (sad i know, lol). If the film had been cut it would be listed as such, but the listing for 'Salt' states "passed with no cuts made", if it were BBFC required cuts it would say "passed with cuts". 'The Expendables' was cut due to a recommendation given by the BBFC and that is consequently listed as "passed with cuts" with an 18 rated version available, whereas the version of 'Salt' listed as "the final film" by the BBFC's write up didn't require cuts as the film had been sufficiently toned down prior to the films completion. The version they saw was a "workprint" of sorts.

No doubt we'll get an "extreme edition" coming out on DVD with the added violence which was originally shown to the BBFC, but the film that is doing the rounRAB at the cinema is the same as the one in the US with a PG-13 certificate.

I watched this Yesterday, and it was the third best of the three films I watched. It is a good blockbuster type film, but the story was very predictable, there was a nice bit of "is she isn't she" for about 3 minutes of the film but then it was all very predictable again. I usually like the two main actors and although their acting wasn't poor they were a little bland in this. The action sequences were a little boring and some of it unbelievable.

I do think Angelina Jolie has done a good job and I prefer her than Tom Cruise (of whom the film was originally intended for) but I wouldn't say a great film good but not great. If you can get in the cinema on a cheap day then I would say give it ago.

+1.

After half an hour it was clear that there would be zero character development. The script couldn't have been more than a dozen pages and the few lines that Angie did have seemed to be used as an intermission before the next 15 minute action sequence. I don't mind the OTT action, just got bored by the clumsy screenplay.

Big and dumb - and mercifully short. :p

I thought 7/10. It would have been 6.5 with a male lead, but using a female added a bit of interest. I liked that she fought in a masculine kind of way. It wasn't too like Buffy, Serenity, Resident Evil or numerous other female action leaRAB.

The story was too predictable. Also, although a few unlikely points did get explained, it generally didn't feel at all plausible. The Americans seemed pretty dense.

I daresay a sequel will make money, but really, the character seems played out already. I'm not caring what she does next.

I don't want to start an argument, but if you check the IMDB parents guide which was written by an American, I'm sure you'll find some violent scenes listed that were edited in our version. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure our version is different.

Just come back from seeing this and i quite liked it. Preposterous and full of plot holes but it was enjoyable fun and nice to see Angelina do something not so serious. Nothing special but easy way to pass the time for 99mins.

I was trying to work out, is she or isn't she, but then you find out and then you find out about the other(s), it was good i quite liked that. I thought it was acted pretty well too but the ending was dumb beyond belief! Set up for the inevitable sequel most likely.

One thing i clearly remember in the trailer but isn't in the film is that i'm sure there's a scene of sorts with her getting hot and heavy with some guy (her husband i imagine) but it's definetely not in the film. Disappointed! :p

 What tits? I feel like a mothering figure here and i'm 29 i wanna make her some nice home cooking and put some weight on her!!

She had an absolutely to die for figure and ruined it by starving herself!

She looks like death warmed up now (well the recent pic i saw anyway)

It seemed quite obvious throughout the film what side she was on and what her motives were ,its unheard of for a Hollywood film to have
An evil anti American Russian spy
as its heroine .
I couldnt see that getting too many bums on seats.

After a decade in which film-makers have strived for realism, an era in which even zombie and superhero movies have been praised for their verisimilitude, Salt does a complete 180 and goes for the sort of campy, balls-out hyper-reality that is such a rarity in 21st century cinema.

It's a completely preposterous plot, full of more holes than a gopher colony, but like The Expendables (only much better), it hearkens back to an age where that was sort of acceptable. No one should be in any doubt that it's a dumb popcorn film, but as long as you can accept it on those terms (and it establishes those early on), it's pretty fun.

As for Bourne, apart from the first film (saved by the ever-charming Franka Potente), that series was a completely overrated snoozefest... Gimme 24 any day!

I thought the film was silly & I was disappointed. The talk of it being like a female Bourne gave me high hopes. When I got home afterwarRAB the Bourne Identity was on TV- MILES better!

I definitely agree with this, Bourne basically lather, rinse, repeat the sequels which absolutely destroyed it for me. If you want a decent Bourne Experience, get the first three books.

I thought it was a decent film but nothing special. It mostly seemed to involve Angelina Jolie running. Other than Salt herself, the characters were paper thin and the plot was fairly predictable throughout. That said, I did quite enjoy it, despite the overdone America vs Russia backdrop.

Not a great film by any means, but considering that before this I saw The Karate Kid, The A-Team, Knight and Day and The Last Airbender (shudder), it was at least watchable and fairly entertaining.

I really enjoyed it. :) Yeah it's silly and preposterous with a hundred plot holes if you overanalyse it. But it's a perfectly enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes and it's a lot of fun. Angelina is brilliant and the stunts are brilliant which is all you need really for this type of film.

Fantastic film. Best film of the summer that I've seen. Way better than The A-Team. Later today I'm seeing The Expendables. It's going to have to go some to match this film.
