Salt

Loved this film.

9.5/10 rating from me.

I know people will come on here and probably find a reason to slate it, as that's the way people are. But for me this film is on par with the Bourne films, action a plenty and Evelina Salt (Jolie) looking very hot. Or a Jason Bourne with tits if you like!

Also it looks like a second could be on the carRAB, I hope so.

Well, just back from seeing this and I though it was absolutely great. Very well done film, a lot more to it than the trailer seemed to give.

Best action movie in ages. Apart from the comedy Russians and a rather colourless supporting cast (why not cast a decent actor as US president for instance) it's excellent and Ms Jolie certainly can deliver the necessary ass-kickings. She may even make woolly Blair Witch hats fashionable again.
I noticed her stunt double was Eunice Huthart from Gladiators.
Roll on the sequel.

couple of questions :

why did it take them so long to realise the Russian president (vice-president?) wasn't dead ?

and how come they didn't just wait until the US president woke up to ask him what happened ? or was he dead ?

I saw this yesterday, thought it was good, although a bit predictable at times. It was entertaining enough for me to recommend it to people though, and hopefuly we get a sequel.

They can't really leave it like that surely?

And in regarRAB to ThatWasCool's comment about it being heavily edited: the film is the same version as in the US, the film itself hasn't been cut per-se. The editing to some of the violence was done during post-production based on recommendations from various ratings boarRAB who were shown a work in progress version of the film. Regardless, i still thought it was pretty violent for a 12A (particularly the bit with the broken bottle!)

I also thought the same as you. I am gobsmacked so many here thought it was so great.

Very predictable, and while I like both Jolie and Screiber normally, this was a very average and uninteresting film.

Part of the reason why it got se well recieved on here because over all I think the big films this summer have been underwhelming.

Twilight: Eclipse - Silly film that doesn't get going properly
Shrek 4 - Disappointing
The A-Team - Nonsense needing more women and not a token Jessica Biel and more humour required too.
The Sorceror's Apprentice - Average
The Last Airbender - Mindnumbingly boring
The Expendables - Good but seen it all before 30 years ago
Toy Story - Best of a weak batch but nothing they haven't done before.

I enjoyed it, but... far-fetched plot but still managed to be entirely predictable (quite an achievement) and the end was total garbage.

Basically it was trying to be Bourne - an intelligent action film that was more than guns and explosions, except it failed utterly.

It's a fun romp, nothing more nothing less.

They left too much of the story up in the air though (presumably for a sequel) I left the theatre feeling unsatisfied because of that.

No, the UK version is different to the US version. The distributors shows the film during post-production to the BBFC who said it was likely to get a 15, but the requested 12A cert could be gained by making edits in six scenes. No other ratings board was involved.

I have a rather sizeable knowledge on the UK classification industry and I check the BBFC website every day I can. In fact (without sounding big-headed), I knew details of the post-production cuts to The Runaways literally seconRAB after they were added to the BBFC website. The listing of the film hadn't even been added to the 'Recent Decisions' section of the site!

I saw Salt and I really enjoyed, it's your typical action film with 2D characters and where realism goes out of the window but it doesn't matter as it happens in similar movies. Angelina is great as Evelyn Salt and when you consider the part was originally written with Tom Cruise in mind although I do wonder how the film would have been liked had he taken the role of Salt. The other characters aren't as fleshed out but Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor are decent enough in their roles.

The only niggle was that
halfway through the film, I worked out Winter was a Russian spy
but apart from that, I hope there is a sequel because of the way they ended it.

I'm surprised by the favourable reviews in here for Salt.
I thought it was rubbish myself.
Not a patch on the Bourne films .
It had 1 dimensional characters,a ludicrously far fetched and illogical plot ,physics defying action scenes and a stick insect as the action woman.
Jolie looked anorexic in the film, her limbs are like knitting needles and expecting her to physically beat up 200lb plus agents is frankly ridiculous.
Its an unbelievably dumb and predictable film ,I actually felt like walking out it got so far fetched near the end .

just came back from the cinema after seeing it,was a good movie, the first part was better than the second bit, predictable in places but worth seeing, obviously there could be a sequel :D
