So, i had a knee injury 4 months ago, i had an MRI last month and as if there isn't any damage, however 2 months before that i was diagnosed with a partial tear of a ligament (and the doctor i saw after that said this cannot be relied upon and it looks more like i might have had a problem with the cartilage...)
I have been doing exercises as the doctor told me to and it helps, the knee is getting better, however i still don't feel it has 100% recovered, cos still at times it feels like i cannot straighten the knee completely.

I am a salsa dancer, and my question of course is, what do you think can i go dancing or is it not good to rush things? There is a Salsa festival here this weekend, and i was so hoping i could at least go to one of the parties...

You could try wearing a knee brace...that might help with support, and take an anti-inflammatory like advil so it doesn't get swollen.

Not having a firm diagnosis of your problem, it's hard to say. MRI's are actually usually very good at diagnosing the various tears a knee can get. I'm wondering if perhaps your tear wasn't a ligament, and instead was a meniscus tear. That is the cartilage pad of the knee joint. A tear there could cause a locking sensation of the knee, sometimes unpredictably. Salsa dancing in and of itself shouldn't be a problem. The main challenge I could see for your knee would be the heels female salsa dancers usually wear. Heels stress knees and hips both, and to add the dance moves on top of that, your knee might just have a complaint to raise with you tomorrow. I'd say consider dancing, but doing it with a flat shoe instead of the usual high heel. And pay close attention to how your knee feels about doing it. If there is a problem, your knee should let you know about it pretty quick. Then when you get home this evening, perhaps put on the ice and take some Motrin to help avoid a problem with swelling and tenderness to a small extent. Mostly, just listen to what your knee has to say about things. And if it does happen to lock on you, that's the time to sit down and take the rest of the evening off.
