Saleman Pete: The Greatest CG Animation Ever

While it might be a bit bold of me to claim Salesman Pete as the greatest CG animation of all time. The reason I really think that is because everyone seems to just be copying Pixar. Its a bit annoying and isn't evolving the media.

And suddenly like a breath of fresh air I come across Salesman Pete, a video made by some former students of Supinfocom. They say they left so they could make the video the way they wanted to. Which is starting to make me think, I need to drop out of school. But that's a different story.

Anyway some very impressive animation. They even did another video they call Meet Buck.

You can check out their official site at salesmanbuck.com. They also have an interesting blog, but its all in French, and my French isn't up to par so I don't understand much of it.

I like it! At first I was thinking "If it's going to look this close to 2D why not just do it in 2D?" but I kept watching and I changed my mind and I wouldn't mind seeing more stuff like this. That part with the robbers busting out of the bank I really liked.

You can find A LOT of great short films if you stick to the indie circuits. Indulge in Film festivals and what not and you'll see plenty of brilliant films. One thing i would recommend would be the Animation Show of Shows which makes for a very nice compilation some of the best short films from across the world; with a very wide variety of styles and themes... you;ll have to check the scedulae to see where and when they will have it... though i do think you can buy DVD's online
