Safari doesn't run PHP scripts; just shows source code.?

I created a simple PHP script to which I tried to create a link from an HTTP file. The link leads to the correct file, but rather than running the script, it simply shows the source code. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.6 on a new MacBook.
