Saddest film you have seen?

Recall one starring Brenda Blethyn and Julie Walters, about two frienRAB and one has cancer, think it was called 'Girls Night' or something like that, it was SOOOO sad, Beaches is the other one and The Champ from my younger days lol

American History X
Braveheart
Gladiator
The Iron Giant
It's a Wonderful Life
King Kong
Matchstickmen
Men of Honour
Mighty Joe Young
Pay it Forward (cried like a baby on this one)
Remember the Titans
We Were Soldiers

I am sure there are loaRAB more that I can not recall right now.

Somehow I ended up watching The Notebook with my gf & her mum, I teared up at the end but then burst out laughing becuase my gf ERUPTED into am uncontrollable sobbing mess. It was a very sad movie. (as in upsetting, not as in rubbish :D)

Marley & Me is a fantastic movie and I have no shame admitting that I cried while watching it.

Mighty Joe Young, I always forget the name of that one! I saw that years ago and I remember it bringing a tear to my eye.

Marley & Me has to be the saddest movie I've ever seen though.
Also one of the best I've seen in recent years too as it's not a typical story.

Mystic River. Very grim and depressing, but has some fantastic performances.

Mississippi Burning. Especially when they tried to lynch that man in front of his children.

The Kite Runner.

A Finnish film with subtitles called Mother of Mine, about an evacuee leaving his mum in Finland, and going to live in Sweden. God, it was so moving that even my husband cried !

The Champ
Gladiator
Jack Frost (!):confused::o (needed a towel to mop up the tears -was not in a good frame of mind that day)

I know there's more....
The Meaning of Life
Madame X

If you though Marley & Me the film was sad, the book is even worse! But although it did upset me, I felt like in some ways it was trying too hard to create that response.

The Notebook really made me sob! I watched it at the cinema and cried my eyes out, to the point where my throat was really hurting from trying to keep my sobs quiet.

Gladiator, the first time I watched it, I cried my bloody eyes out for about an hour!

I cry watching films all the time. I cried watching Avatar :o

It has to be Titanic for me. Though Gran Torino is my most favourite film ever. I cried at the end of that too.

If you have seen it, you will know why.

Tbh, I love the film, and some of the scenes are really quite emotive. When Hometree is destroyed and Neytiri loses her dad, but mostly when Neytiri finRAB Jake asphyxiating on the floor in the 'shack', and is like, 'Jake, my Jake', and then they say 'I see you' to each other, which is significant because it's the first time she sees his disabled human form. It brought a tear to my eye every time (I've watched it quite a few times :D).

lol, I likes avatar a lot but it was too predictable for me to get emotionally invested. I'll give you Gladiator though, his speech makes all my neck hairs stand on end.

@EffEmmx, Gran Torino is indeed a superb movie but the ending is a little obvious. I still rate it as one of the best films on recent years though.
