Saddest Anime Death (SPOILERS!)

some stuff has gone down in certain animes and mangas ive been reading and watching so it has got me thinking...what is or are some of the saddest anime deaths in your opinion?

Phew good thing I got in here before anyone else said anything.. but..in Code Geass..

Shirley's death hanRAB down. That was the most heartbreaking thing I ever seen in anime =(. I love her worRAB of saying "Even when I'm reborn.. I will fall in love with you again and again.." and I hate when people said she died of suicide. That's extremely twisted to think about of how her mother thinks. I mean losing your husband is one thing but now your daughter?

I've said this before in threaRAB like this, and I'll say it again: even if the thread has a spoiler-warning, use spoiler-tags anyway. As it is now, it's pretty much a REQUIREMENT that you don't care about spoilers if you even want to look at the thread.

With that out of the way, I'll mention two moments, because I'm honestly not sure which was saddest:

The first one being
Misuzu
in Air. This one actually made me feel kinda depressed for several days, and is easily the most memorable moment in the series.

The other one is
Nagisa
in Clannad After Story. There are several reasons for this; the music, (which was actually just an extended version of a track they'd played many times before, but I couldn't possibly imagine a more fitting tune) the sheer length of the scene, plus the last part where
Tomoya thinks back to all the moments they spent together, and then thinking how it would have been better if they'd never even met, because then she might still have been alive.
It was just devastating.

This one is no contest. Watch "Grave of the Fireflies", then come back and be amazed that you even had to wonder about this.

I'll add more as I think of more:

Lockon from Gundam 00 season 1 (I still resent the show for killing him). I remeraber he died the morning I had to take my SATs and I was so frustrated I couldn't keep my mind focused. Along with him were some of the other merabers of the crew- very upsetting.

This could go either way
Lelouch from Code Geass. I suppose this all depenRAB on whether he's actually dead or still roaming around with C.C., but I remeraber crying during the scene when he was stabbed. It was very heart breaking and listening to the song played during his death still gives me chills.

Hughes from FMA. I think what made this worse was that not only was he one of the happiest and kindest character in the show, but that his daughter kept crying out to him at the funeral. "Mommy, why are they burying daddy? He still has work to do!".

Bellemere death. She gave up all her money that could have payed for her and let Nami and Nojiko go away, but she decided not to and let them live as she thought that not acknowledging Nami and Nojiko as her daughters would be a downright disgrace.

I'd have to agree with that one as well. That's still my #1

Another one I can think of is
Bruce
from "Galaxy Railways" just because of the way they built up the character.

Both of those are either at the top of my list or in the top 3 for saddest.

Digimon had some

Wizardmon in Adventure and Leomon in Tamers

And you guys ever watch Figure 17?

The end where Hikari sacrifices herself to bring Tsukasa back down to Earth safely...its just...SO...SAD!!!

I could probably think up a few more but I can't think of anything right now. The final episode of Kino's Journey comes to mind...

I know a few of the saddest anime deaths of such great characters(cool heroes/villains):

Bardock & his crew,Future Gohan,Goku,Cui,Appule,Zarbon,Nail,Dende,Vegeta,Krillin,Guru,King Vegeta,King Cold,Kami,The Supreme Kais,Dabura,Fat Majin Buu,& Nova Shenron. All were such great characters, but Zarbon was my favorite villain which I wish he had more screentime though which I was sad to watch him die, poor Dabura's death was so humiliating,& poor Krillin had so many deaths which the writers can't give the poor guy a break.

Digimon:

Wizardmon,Chuumon,Piximon,Whamon,& Leomon.Leomon's two deaths had me sad the most, poor Juri though.

Sakura Taisen/Wars:

Kazuma Shinguji,Shinnosuke Yamazaki. His self-sacrifice death was so awesome on stopping the giant Kouma & Yamazaki's death was awesome in the finale battle episode.

One Piece:

Bellemere,Dr.Hiruluk,Going Merry,Bearsy,Ryuuma,Warthog Lola & Brook's crew.Their death scenes made me sad,but they're handled perfectly awesome as well,I'll miss my Bearsy though(staring at my avatar).

Fullmetal Alchemist:

Nina,Maes Hughes,Barry,Greed,Lust,Sloth,Kirably,Scar,Pride,Archer,Dante. Both Hughes's & Nina's deaths were the saddest & I'll miss some of the villains which they were awesome scary psychopaths.

S-cry-ed:

Ayase,Kunihiko Kimishima,Unkei,Bith,Sherrice,Martin Jigmar,& Straight Cougar.I was sad that they died which was SO unexpected since they were cool characters.

Naruto:

Death Note:

Ray,Naomi,L,Watari,Rem,Aiber,Wedy,The Yotsuba group,Soichiro Yagami,Mello,Matt,Teru Mikami & Misa Amane.I was really sad when those great characters had to die like the awesome L & even Naomi and Matt which they had little screentime.

Blood+:

George,Riku,Solomon,& Moses.George's & Riku's death scenes was so sad which I felt sorry for poor Kai & Saya.

Gurren Lagann:

Kamina,Kittan, the twins Jorgun & Balinbow,& Nia.Their death scenes were sad/EPIC at the sametime, they were such awesome characters while it lasted.

Code Geass/R2:

Clovis,Princess Euphemia,Dalton,Shirley,Rolo,& Lelouch.Clovis was my favorite villain who had potential, would've had more screentime before his death,Euphemia's & Shirley's death scenes made me SO sad since they were my favorite girl characters & was SO heartbreaking, poor Lelouch & Shirley's mother having to lose her husband & only daughter,Dalton's death was sad/unexpected & Lelouch's "death" was sad/EPIC on the whole ultimate sacrifice formula, but I pity Rolo's death though.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00:

Louise's mother & whole family,Kinue,Johann & Michael Trinity,Patrick,Daryl,Joyce,Lockon,Lichtendahl,Christina,Lasse,Alejandro,Graham,Wang,Soma. All of them were fantastic, awesome characters while it lasted.

Flag.
I don't get attached to characters that often anymore, but seeing Shirasu nearly make it out of that war alive, only to fall to a terrorist attack just broke my heart. And seeing the final ending credits with the cracked camera........

His death made me dislike the show. After that I was too frustrated the fully enjoy the rest. I kept refusing to believe he was actually dead. =[

Basically everybody in Wolf's Rain upset me

Well, because I'm a hopeless fanboy who feels the anime gets woefully overlooked in threaRAB like this.

Last Exile

Luciola

Mostly, because the show is pretty light on the drama up to that point and has plenty of precedant for main characters getting out of impossible jams... But then Delphine gives him the ring and you're like... Oh... Well I guess that kinda had to go that way didn't it? Well... ****

I must agree. No matter how sad something is, "Grave of the Fireflies" will be the winner.

Even still....Kamina shall live forever in our hearts

And hey, I can think of a lot of Tokusatsu that had terrible and heartfelt deaths if that counts.

Like in Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger
Abarekiller's death. He spent the entire series being evil, destroying countless lives, screwed with the Abaranger's continuously, and went out with one last team up with the Abaranger's. He may have been a jerk but his death scene was powerful. Plus TopGaler deciding to go with him was great

Kamen Rider Kabuto
Tsurugi (Sasword's) death. Real emotions going everywhere in that one
Also in Kamen Rider Kiva
MIO-CHAAAAAAANNN!!!

Magic Knight Rayearth

I was just as mad as Hikaru was when Nova killed Eagle Vision in the second to last episode (episode 48), but when I read the manga, I was relieve to see my favourite bishounen (what, guys can have a favourite bishounen, too) alive at the end

DRAGONBALL

At the end of the Bardock Special when Freeza killed Bardock, I was sad to the point of crying, because Bardock was pretty cool and interesting, more so than son, Goku, honestly I think Bardock should've been the main character.

And I admit it, I cried during the two times, Goku died in the series, because honestly, I hate seeing my favourite characters die, but then again nobody can stay dead in that show

Devilman

In a chapter of the manga, when Sachiko (a childhood friend and neigrabroador of Akira's from before he moved in with Miki) was killed and eaten by Jinmen, I was just as sad as Akira was, and of course the end of the series when pretty much everyone was brutally murdered, but the the scene when Akira and Silene are sitting on a cliff was very touching.

Ninja Scroll:
Kagero! I like strong female characters, but not when they die!

Akira:

[xspoiler=Nothing major, but]Kaori. Ouch.[/xspoiler]
