My husband just bought a new S83 and he was wondering if anyone that has one on here has a problem with the clutch being really touchy. IT starts gradual slowly and then it catches all the way. He called the dealer and they told him that hydrulic clutches are touchy like that. He's always had cable clutches so thats what he is use too. And he wanted me to ask if there is a way to convert it to a cable casue the intruders which the s83's replaced was cable he thinks. Other than that he loves it. I told him he's just picky lol.:fight1::lol4:

Yes, hydraulic clutches are sort of all the way on or all the way off. No, you can't put a cable clutch on it. But don't worry, he will get used to it very quickly.

Btw, welcome to the board! A few of us northern Alabama riders have made the trip to Chattanooga area a time or two. Maybe next time...we'll see if he (and you...if you ride as well) wants to tag along/meet up along the route.

Yeah he loves it. He said it rides like a dream. He had an 86 Honda V65 Magna before he got it. HE misses the power of the V65 alittle but he wanted to slow down abit and just ride not fly lol. Its more enjoyable to cruise on.

hello, i have an 06 s83 and i certainly agree with him. it is jerky and hard to get used to. i have always owned bikes with standard clutches and this one is very tricky to say the least. i guess that the more you ride it, you'll get used to it, but i have other bikes that i ride with standard clutches so i have to get used to it every time i get on it.

Don't worry - as the fluid ages, it'll get a little mushier and smoother. Just replaced my fluids in the brakes and clutch and they are all noticably touchier now, and I like the brakes better with the new fluid.
