You guys remind me of the bass fisherman who buys a 21ft. boat with a 225hp motor. My question is this why. The object is to get there and be able to fish once you stop.
Professional riders have been testing the VS1400 for 20 years, and yet on the very first try you managed to beat the best quarter mile time they ever recorded by over a full second! Sure you did! Really, I believe you! Honestly, I do!
If that is true where are the stats? Only know of two references and there not really sourced to "professional riders". Cruisers don't seem to get tested like the sport and super sport bikes. There doesn't seem to be any real good data bases on "cruiser performance" out there other than mostly anecdotal.
Where you located? I'd love to run my 800 intruder against that 1400 at the drag strip. Is this your bike you were quoting and you riding it at the strip?
Yup, a drag strip near Maggie Valley or even DS&T would be great!
You'd certainly have an advantage against the Electra Glide (you'd have to flatten your front tire to give me a chance), but an 800 won't run with that red custom in the quarter. One of these days you'll have to come back to GA, and we'll run it at Atlanta Dragway to see what the 115 HP S&S motor will do.
Those 5-6 hour trips in the colder weather...are getting tougher. But hey...I'm up for a road trip in the springtime as soon as it warms up to a cool 60-70 during the day. That 30 degree 6 hour ride home last month was a bit cold. And...you two, BillyJack, and Big Pond, (and anybody else in the area) needs to show me those north GA mountains I keep hearing good things about. Maybe a nice weekend in March or April if the weather would cooperate. Drag strips here close in the rain...figure they will in Atlanta, too.
LAFFS rode the red bike all of twice, and decided she liked her 1400 better. The clutch is a LOT lighter, the narrow seat and position of the controls fit her better, and she needs the lazyrider for a backrest. So it mostly just gathers dust, but I try and take it for a spin or to work every now and then to keep the battery charged. We probably should sell it, but I may keep it for myself and sell something else.
