S60v3: a big clock on your handset (free, sorta)

Read this trick on another forum, just tried it and it looks fine.

1) go to Epocware.com and download HandyWeather for your handset
2) install HandyWeather, reboot as asked
3) run HandyWeather and do the basic setup. Don't Update the weather, don't register.
4) quit HandyWeather
5) go into your theme and set 'Weather' as the screensaver

The thread this was from indicates it doesn't eat your battery life, but I haven't been running it long enough to tell. What I can say is that it's a nice big fat clock with all the usual missed msg/calls/etc. indicators.

They said this will run forever without registering HandyWeather at all, so we'll see.

hmmm e61 does not have screensaver...

but i have a workaround for e61, well sort of, now where is that link...

Well, why bother? There's a lot of options for S60v2 (look for VarScrSaver on google and stuff, and other threads on HoFo) that are truly free and better than this -- this thread is for S60v3; we don't have a lot of options yet.

Found out about this trick some time ago. It's a good solution but the only concern I have is that the clock does not move about on the screen. I'm not sure whether this will have any long term damage, e.g. colour saturation, image persistence..etc
