s60 SUCKS for music, any help?

OK, so I got the iTunes agent from sourceforge to use my mp3's on my phone, I just make a playlist on the PC and it syncs when I plug in my N80 (not songs from iTMS) (if you want more info on that, don't ask in here, search for itunes and it's one of those threads)

However, the music player software still BLOWS. I have 8-10 mp3 ringtones that I use. No matter where I put these (phone memory, removable memory, "digital sounds","tones") they ALWAYS show up in my music library and everytime I try to make a playlist I have to go through and remove them one by one.

Also, when I put music on my phone using the iTunes agent, it just puts it all on there. doesn't create a playlist, just BAM! there's all your crap. So I still have to sit there and put them all in a playlist.

HOW DO YOU GUYS DO IT THAT USE YOUR PHONE AS YOUR MP3 PLAYER??? there's gotta be a good way to use your phone as an MP3 player.

I have an iPod, so don't suggest that to me. I want to be able, on the weekends and whatnot, to throw a quick playlist on my phone and just use that. Anyone?
 
I have a couple ideas. To keep your ringtones seperate from your MP3's, make sure they don't have any ID3 information so that the artist always comes up as Unknown in the Music Player.

I haven't played with the playlists much, but I think the Nokia Music Transfer program in PC Suite can make playlists to quickly put onto the phone. Maybe?

I still use my iPod for MP3's and videos. I too dream of the perfect all-in-one, but we're not quite there yet.
 
the only thing u can really do now is get a mp3 s60 phone...like the 3250/n91~ their mp3 app is MUCH MUCH better than general s60 ones~
 
I love using my N90 as an mp3 player.

I make my playlists with the Music Player and usually listen via the gallery. That way the song name shows up on the outside screen.

Maybe because I keep my playlists simple (no more than 20 songs) I can enjoy using it.
 
Without a doubt, the N91 is the best S60 device for music playback.. the software, the controls and the built in headphone and remote jacks as well as the HDD give it the edge. But Im slowly getting used to using my old 6630 as a music player as well. Im using OggPlay on the 6630, which lets me play MP3, AAC, OGG, WAV etc and allows me to import m3u playlists from my PC (using pretty much any software you like, most support m3u playlists). The only fault I see with it is it doesnt support an equaliser, which is what I miss from the N91 (which I also own, and plan to upgrade the firmware soon.. using 6630 until then).

I personally dont think Nokia or even application developers have put enough emphasis or effort into making the Series 60 a viable music platform, but it certainly does have the potential and there are some very promising projects already (OggPlay being a good example).

this is the main reason why I jump from 6680 to MDA, lacking of audio/video support and no a2dp support prevent S60 phones quailfy as audio player
 
it helps to learn about your devices, before declaring something as lacking audio and video support, when others are obviously enjoying their multimedia experiences... and how good is A2DP??? coz it aint even close to a passing grade in the hi-fi world???
 
I'll say, i'd LOVE to have A2dp, so I could listen to tunes laying in the pool. I'm not about to get my N80 near that water, but i'd take a cheap pair of headphones.
 
ok what i do is i use mp3s as ringtones full songs...so i don't care about that

and for playlists..i usually just connect my memory card to my computer...then i open up winamp and make my playlists through there and save the .m3u file on the memory card....there is my playlists
 
I use OggPlay and as has been mentioned before everything about it works very well (importing .m3u playlists is key) except lack of equalization. My 6682 is my music player when I'm travelling. I use the Nokia stereo adapter and noise cancelling headphones on airplanes with phone in Offline mode and it works just fine. If I could boost the bass it would be even better.
 
See my N80 has equalizer and all that. Just a pain to do playlists. And the "recently added" folder either has the "recent" date set to far back, or refreshes all the music, cause it's always got my damn ringtones in there.
 
Nokia PC Suite 6.8 has Transfer Music... at 1st i thought this one sucks, but then after learning to update my music library, everything is cool... contrary to what is happening to some, NPCS is not baad at all...

a2dp can remove wire between your headphones and your unit, this is useful when doing workout in the gym, that I don't have to worry the unit gets dragged down when using treadmill
full streaming audio for WM is another plus, I play internet radios a lot, I don't want stupid spodradio stuff
 
I think my problem is that I'm using iTunes. However, I haven't found a usable solution for my iPod other than iTunes (ironic, I know). I tried using Winamp a few versions ago, but it made my iPod visibly slower. And it took FOREVER to read it/update it. I would like to switch back to Winamp, actually, so I could use Bemused, as well as transfer music & playlists easily to my N80 (cause with Winamp I could organize the music how I want, and know the tags are updated). I just don't have the time necessary to re-organize 3k songs that are all in folders according to artist.

If I could find a program that would read the artist name from the folder, and get the track title from the filename, rename it to artist - tracktitle.mp3, and read the genre from the iTunes id tag (whatever it uses) and put them in folders according to genre, then artist, with artists having less than 10 tracks simply dumped into an "other" folder, I'd be a happy camper. Till then I'm stuck on iTunes.
 
most people here knows what A2DP can do...

having A2DP is not a criteria to say that a device is music device, just because it suports A2DP, and at the same time labelling another as NOT an Audio Device because it does not support A2DP... that is my 1st point...

IMHO, the best criteria of an Audio Device is that it plays very good sound quality, meaning it has depth, clarity, and so forth... then the basic funtions of a player must be there and so forth... A2DP at the moment is still in its infancy, and many manufacturers have voiced out their reservation to it, due to the bandwidth limitation which will result in low sound quality, many of the manufacturers are adding cosmetic stuffs on it, to give a better and fuller sound quality, but generally it faills to impress most music buffs and hi-fi afficionados...

bottom line if you like your BT HS with A2DP sooo much, even thought it is not sounding as good as a wired headset, it's all up to you...
 
anyone got this covered? I looke don the regional europe page and didn't find the app to download. I really need a solution that lets me keep all my mp3s in folders organized like this: genre>artist/other> artist - title.mp3, as well as handling my podcasts and allowing control via bluetooth. Needs to be a light player, given that I have a stupid celeron processor, WMP lags, even with plenty of memory. Winamp seems to be the best option, I just hate to format my iPod again and lose all my # of times played and smartplaylists and whatnot. Plus I'd have to spend a long time reorganizing my music. I AM driving to Oklahoma this weekend......
