S50 saddlebag caution

I recently purchased the Tour Master medium slant "zip-off" fabric saddlebags for my '06 S50. Even with the bags empty, they can come unzipped, especially at highway speeds. Yesterday, with no questions asked by the friendly owner of a local motorcycle parts store, I exchanged them (with some money back) for what I should have bought in the first place: the River Road compact, with "quick-release" buckles, synthetic leather studded saddlebags.

My wife's bike has some zip off saddlebags. Hers have a snap that go back over the zipper and prevent it from unzipping. Also, the bags must be unzipped towards the front of the bike: something wind (at any speed) wouldn't really do.

Were yours mounted "backwards" somehow so they unzipped towards the back?

Btw, I prefer the Leatherlyke bags for this bike. A bit smallish, but a little tougher and resilient than leather bikes. (I wrecked my last bike and they prevented any damage from occuring to that area of the bike). Not to mention, they are lockable.

Yes, these bags did have a snap over the zipper and they were mounted correctly. Maybe the zippers were just defective. At any rate, the River Road bags I ended up with are great; I also purchased the matching sissy bar bag.
