S50 Highway Pegs

I'm thinking of putting highway pegs on the standard-type engine guard of my S50. Anyone know a set that is good and not too expensive? And I believe the S50 engine guard is a 1", isn't it?

Clutch- is that a suzuki engine guard or another make, also do you remember the name of the foot controls you put on and was it hard to take the stock ones off and replace them?

Hi Purplefern,
Sorry for the late reply,I usually get a notification email, but didn't. Anyway, The engine guard is Suzuki factory stock and the hiway pegs are made by Kurykan(sp.?) I have a dealer friend who installed them for no charge.:bluethum: He removed the bottom plate which the stock foot rest connects to and slipped the stock foot rest off and installed the new ones in 20 mins. Watching him,I probably could have done it myself, now that I know how.

Clutch, I picked up a set of cheapo road pegs and they will do the trick. But, I did notice something, with the standard engine guard there is no room between it and the pipes. I gotta be mindful of where my legs are, so I can avoid that burning feeling.

Chance. I too had the same problem with the road pegs on the engine guard. I had to angle them outwards a wee bit but works and look ok. What brand of pegs did you buy? My road pegs aren't that close to the pipes. I was just wondering why yours are.

I was not sure if I would like hwy pegs so instead of dropping $125 I found a set of drag spec. that will accomodate 1 to 1.25 hwy bars. Cost me $17.95. They don't look the greatest but at least my wallet is not empty. If I like them then later I will buy the Kury's.

Vinnie, that's probably the same type I got, from J&P. Clutch, my engine guard is pretty narrow, just a bit wider than the gas tank. The pegs work fine if I ride bow-legged.

I'm a few months short of 50 and this is my first bike. Got it, and my license last August. Its a great first bike. For awhile I thought about going bigger, and still might, but I'm good for now.

I'm 36 now. I bought a VS800 in 2004 after a ~12 year lapse in riding. I enjoyed the bike so well, I bought my wife one to ride in April 2007. I liked it so much, that when I totaled my bike in July 2007, I bought an exact replacement (same color/year, but 30,000 less miles) as the the one I totaled in October 2007. :)

Unfortunately, I've only been able to put about 4000 miles on it so far....but that's a'changing real quick like. :)

Yeah Chance I'm 55 y/o and this is my second bike. First bike was a yamaha virago 250. I love this bike and I'm keeping it probably forever. WildWolf, you got a nice looking bike. I like that front chrome hub. Where did you get it?

I'll keep the S50 not only because it suits my purpose, but as I've said before, neither me nor the S50 is garage kept anymore, so this bike holds up good to the weather. I do have to fight rust spots though.

Chance,
There is a tent like cover that allows you to drive into it and it doesn't make no contact w/the bike. Sorry,I don't remember the name of it but I saw a pic of it and it's very simple to use otherwise keep the bike chrome waxed enough to fight the rust.

Came on the bike when I bought it. Haven't put it back on the new bike yet, still deciding if I want to or not. Looks great, made brake jobs harder. :)

I had a wreck last summer and have a new bike now (liked the bike so much, bought another one, same year & color!).

You can get the chrome rotor covers from time to time on Ebay for ~$50-80 though.
