S40 vs S50 vs M50 Passenger capability

Hello gang... Well, I could not resist posting a new photo of my S50 from a couple weeks ago since more photos were requested.

Here, a nice spring day in Western MA. and a total of only 14.8 miles on the new odometer :)

As she sits now, a rainy cold day, there is about 140 miles on her :D

Enjoy...

PS. Photo taken with a Canon 400D (XTI) with the Canon 17 x 85mm. lens...

Nice pictures Wildwolf. That was a great paint job on your old bike.

One thing I think I might like better on the Intruders is the handle bar. While the S50 is a near perfect fit for me, I think I would like the grips turned down more like on the old bikes. I noticed your wifes bike has bars more like the S50.

I'm curious what your opinion is, I'm actually thinking of making that change.

My wife rode my bike for the first time last week (she rode hers all last season). She _really_ liked the buckhorn bars. I have always liked them as well. So, we're likely going to sell her bike, and buy her another one with buckhorns that we like.

I'm lazy and doubt I'd take the time to swap out her bars for another set as I wouldn't want to rush. Plus, I'd need the risers, etc.

Hers are custom 33" wide Baron Bars from meancycles with 6 or 7" pull back. I've rode her bike a bit myself...and I much prefer the stock buckhorns of the older intruder.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments on the pics. I miss my old tank. I'd give up the paint job to have my 6 gallons of gas back. :(

I'll be getting a new S50 soon and I'm seriously considering having it setup with the old style Intruder bars. I'm sure I'd like them better than the drag bar style that the S50 have.

Thanks for the feedback.

Just bought my first bike about a month ago, S50. I liked the smaller bike feeling and nimbleness in the turns (love riding in the mountains). I paid $5000 for a 2006 model from a private seller with only 240 miles on it. It even came with an engine guard and an extended warranty. Love it. I use it to commute to work, getting about 50 mpg.

S50's rule!!

I love the drag bars on mine, but haven't ridden the old Intruder style so have no idea what I'm missing out on.

I paid $6000 otd for my 2007 in October 2006. We have no sales tax in Oregon.
I tacked on $1100 for an extended warranty and prepaid maintenance program for 3 years.
Then added OEM sissy bar, saddlebags and supports, windshield, Mustang seat, MCHighway pegs, Stebel air horn....

Here it was on the day I got it (My 32nd birthday)

Y'all need to realize also, my wife's drag bars aren't stock S50 drag bars. They're 33" wide, 1.25" diameter Baron Bars. They're MUCH larger than the S50 drag bars.

I did a search for "S40" on this site and came up with nothing. I just went with the wife to look at new S40s for her. I've ridden a buddy's Suzuki Savage back in the 90s and I think the S40s are still pretty much the same thing as the Savages were back then. Any thoughts or experiences that anybody wants to share about S40s?

They've been talked about but not much. The search function here doesn't let you search for three character strings so I don't know how to find any of these. Maybe someone will remember a specific discussion.
