if you are under 40 this probably wont mean much but those older ones like me may remember this film from 1971. Its one of those films that you may remember from your youth but have never had a chance to see again. Well it is now finally released on dvd. Basically it reunited the two child stars from Oliver, Mark lester and Jack Wild. The film was originally called Melody then the ttile was changed to S.W.A.L.K. but the dvd release is under the original title. I only heard about the dvd release on a film review on the radio the other day where it was described as a hidden gem. I ordered it from Play yesterday and am looking forward to seeing this film for the first time in 39 years! Anyone else remember this?

Saw the film some years ago on tv in Japan, I had not even
heard of it but lots of people I knew were raving about it.
The film was very good, did not know about the alternate
title though. Bit of a film that nobody seems to have seen.

The film has been out on R2 for several years.
The Japanese love the film and I have the Jap R2 special edition which has an introductory letter (in English) from David Puttnam aswell as the tv version of the movie as a bonus feature and a greeting card:confused:

Lovely 16:9 restored print.

There was possibly a Dutch dvd but I suspect that was bootleg.

But it's long overdue in the UK

According to Look-In the UK release title was S.W.A.L.K. but it was known as Melody everywhere else.

I was after it for many years and although I recall BBC showing it in the 70's the first time it appeared during the video era was on Bravo in the mid 90's

Like other films prduced by Hemdale it seemed to be lost in legal limbo for all of the 80's
