I think it's utterly preposterous making a sequel.

It actually angers me, especially since Richard Kelly is in no way involved and he has no control to stop them.

I really liked the first one but is there any point of making a sequel? If I see this movie it will only be because of James Lafferty.

See, i loved the first film, so of course i want to see more in anyway possible However one (ok a lot) of the premise just doesn't add up to me.

1.Sam and her best friend Corey are plagued by bizarre visions, they set off on a road trip to Los Angeles, following Frank the Rabbit's ghost. - how are they following Franks ghost? Frank didn't die in her reality.

2.Richard Kelly is not involved :O

3.The cast are all from teen tv shows. And though i love Ed Westwick, that doesnt make me any less apprehensive.

I'll still watch it no doubt, but i am not going in with high expectations.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I love the first one and I can't imagine how they could do a sequel, and tie it in well with the first, but I may see it just to find out what they do. I can't imagine it being as good as the first one, at all.

Hi!

I'm also in two minds about the sequel. Agree that the original was a fantastic film and doesn't require follow up, however maybe this movie will have nothing to do with Donnie, and not explain anything about the first one. Unless the visions will have something to do with the plane crash... Hmm...

On the other hand, the movie could be just as fantastic and mind bending as Donnie. I'm interested to find out more about this.

It's obviously not going to be anywhere near amazing as the original... but, that doesn't mean I won't deny myself to watch it for pure curiousity.

I'm not going to lie, I'm VERY hesitant about this. The first one was a perfect stand alone film, a sequel seems so unnecessary. Plus, it was original, imaginative and so creative. I can't see the second one having the same 'wow' factor.

Hmm, I'll see it though. Plus, Ed Westwick is in it

I'm not sure how I feel about this at the moment... The first was just so brilliant, it's hard to believe that they can even think of making a sequel

I cannot believe they are doing a sequel. The first one was so good, I don't know what they can do in a sequel. But being that the original girl who played the sister is in the sequel, it might be better than most because you're seeing a real person reprising their role.

How interesting!

I know many people have been voicing their opinions on wanting more so maybe this could be it, if done the right way.

I must rewatch this movie because I don't remember much.

So I just read today that they are filming a sequel to Donnie Darko. Here's a description.

On May 18, 2008, filming began for S. Darko, the sequel to Donnie Darko. UK-based sales company Velvet Octopus will be launching sales for the film in Cannes, with Fox already having acquired North American rights. S. Darko will be set seven years after the end of Donnie Darko; Donnie's little sister Samantha and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. Daveigh Chase, who portrayed Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko, will be reprising her role. The cast will also include Ed Westwick, Briana Evigan, and Justin Chatwin. Chris Fisher will direct the film.

I liked the original Donnie Darko a lot. I'm not sure what they could do with a sequel. I'll definitely tune in because I loved the first one.
