Ruthless Efficiency

Hi,

I am looking for a phone and the main thing I need it to be is efficient. That means:

- Very quick turn on/turn off times
- No excess features because I won't use (talk and text only)
- Fast phonebook/message access
- Speed dial and fast phone number entry
- Long battery life
- Cheap

Does the speed for most things like call divert setup times, connection times, turn on times, depend on the service provider? I'm with Telstra in Australia. But even if most wait times come down to the exchange and the provider, are some protocols faster than others? If the case is that most waiting is the providers fault and the nature of mobiles, surely some phones provide more direct access to the provider's main services of talk and text better than others?

The cheap part is very important to me, so what old phones can you suggest? I love retro, so anything from the days when phones were only for callling would probably suit me the best.

The phones that I have dealt with all seem to have so many unnessasary features, glitz and glamour. I understand that processing power is limited, but shouldn't the most basic of functions be able to fit in RAM?

Which is more efficient: a flip top or a non-flip top? With a flip one, you don't have to lock it and you can automatically answer. But, is the constant flipping worth it?

Forgive me being so basic and picky, I'm in that sort of mood to get every bit of my life as fast and effective as possible, and that includes my phone. Then I can finally get the phone I have been aching for.

Nick.

Try the nokia 6590i. Very fast, candy bar phone which the keypad can be unlocked easily as well as great reception and battery life!
