rust on a vw t2 camper?

i want to know how to get rid of the rust or how to treat it, either cutting it off n welding, paint on stuff, or taking it to the garage. how much would it cost to do it in general. i want to buy one and i have looked into it and you can get cheap campers for around 2000-3000 but they have quiet a lot of rust on them and i would like to start to restore one. ive found places to buy all the stuff to fix one up but i cant seem to find a decent way of getting rid of rust and i would like some advice from people that might have done it them selves
