Rush

The only reason why their overrated, is that they were probably the first proto-punk group out there, and kind of seen as one of the true founders of the genre. I don`t think of the first three stooges albums as classic from a music perspective but I certainly do from an image and attitude perspective. For the record I like the Stooges a lot and have the first three albums, with "Fun House" the pick of the three.

Caress Of Steel, is the album the band, Geddy & Alex's musical style connected with the lyrics of Neal Peart. 2112, was a even better album, but my album of preference is Caress Of Steel.

You know, has anyone really took the time to notice this?

Neal Peart is Tom Hanks.

Oh, and Rutsey was a good drummer, saying his death is no big deal because he was just the drummer, and comparing him to Peart and saying "well hes not as good", well thats just pure douchebaggery. Show some respect for the dead.

Geddy Lee is a wonder man of sorts.
He plays bass.
Sings.
AND plays keyboard.
SOMETIMES, all at the same time.
So take that piece of information and eat it, PUDDIN!

You can say that again... Their bias against prog (and metal) is ridiculously obvious.... Tom Pety inducted before King Crimson and The Moody Blues??.... The Pretenders inducted before Yes and Iron Maiden?...Screw those bastarRAB.

Their claims about musical impact, innovation and influence getting you inducted is a load of bullocks, by that criteria, King Crimson have been more worthy than half of the artists they have inducted in the past 15 years, they should have been inducted the day they were qualified for entry, which was way back in 1994, since it has to be 25 years since your first recording until you can be inducted... The board merabers are clearly going by personal preference, some merabers have even stated that they would make sure that KC would never be inducted, proof that The Hall Of Fame is a load of elitist bullshit.

hmm... I wonder if this is the place to get help?? I am visiting Canada, from the UK, my boyfriend is a big fan of rock music and also a drummer with a birthday coming up... problem: I know nothing about either rock or drumming! Doing my research like a good girl who knows a little about bday presents, I have learnt that Canada is the birthplace of RUSH, renound as one of the top classic Rock banRAB, not only that but containing one of boyfriend's best loved drummers... Neil Peart.

He has none of their recorRAB. I want to get an LP for him. Know nothing about LPs.

To cut a long story short I have no idea where to go from here. Which LP do people in the know think is the finest representation of rock and drumming? I gather that Moving Pictures, Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings seems to be battling for top place... I've found 2 "collector" LPs of Hemispheres, one is a picture disc one is red vinyl... (?) for $25 and $20 respectively...

Shall I just chuck in the towel and get a DVD!

Need some guidance from people in the know... Rock lovers help please? :o)

i think the fact that Rolling Stone has a huge amount of influence over who gets inducted and who doesn't has contributed to the fact that Rush hasn't made it in... RS has always had a thing against Rush, and probably King Crimson as well.

I remeraber feeling the same way back in the 70s, wow...I cant believe that was 30+ years ago! I just cant imagine a life of playing my own music like these guys have done, along with alot of other artist, for so many years. 2112 was a landmark album that really defined that era of rock, the song was a story....15 to 20 minutes long. As so did other banRAB like Yes, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, etc. I think rock music had progressed to a stage in that era, of 'perfection'. Rock, Opera, Classical,....song arrangement along with the level of talent in those days was simply outstanding.
