Rurouni Kenshin Anime

This can just be a general topic about what you thought of it but I have two main questions.

1. Does anyone know or have a source for why it was canceled? All I hear is that it was due to low ratings from filler.

2. Was I the only one who liked Shougo Amakusa and his arc? I thought he was a well-developed character (with more deptht han Shishio actually) and Sano's relationship with Sayo was also interesting. Basically both Kenshin and Sano grew from the arc and that's what the story should be aiming for so I liked it.
 
1. Yes, I heard the same thing, and this is something that has happened with various other anime, as well, I believe. Its really a shame, since Rurouni Kenshin's final story arc (only in the manga, with minor parts of it in the final OVA) was honestly the best one, and I would love to have seen it animated.

2. Eh, I thought Shougo was OK, but he didn't really interest me that much, overall. Its true that he was deeper than Shishio, but his personality really didn't interest me that much, and I didn't really find his background story to be all that interesting, either. That's just my personal opinion, though. Still, overall, his story arc was at least much better than any of the other filler arcs/episodes in the 3rd season of Rurouni Kenshin, IMO.
 
Yeah, the filler killed it, I believe. A real shame, too.

Shougo's arc I liked. The pacing was a bit off, but it's definitely one of the better storylines in the anime.
 
I agree. I can see why some people dislike filler but there is some good filler out there and the arc with Shougo was one of those IMO.

However stuff like the last arc with the knights or whatever, that was crap.
 
Yeah, this makes me wish Nobuhiro Watsuki could collaborate with Aniplex again to have it re-animated and closely follow the manga, but that'll never happen (sigh)


I really hated the fillers, they weren't even that good, thankfully they didn't tamper with Misao's persona (since Misao's my favourite character that is, and nobody likes having their favourite character tampered with)
