Rumour: Grandfathered pricing eliminated in January

The Ultra value combo does not include HD. So add $10 a month for Hd and now you' re paying over $200 a year more. I also have the Ultimate 7. A new package with all the channels I want is $82 a month. If I want to stay at the same price as now I would have to drop Movie Central.

Both standard packages do not include the HDTV bundle and to add them to each is the same amount of $10/mo or $120 per year. So it's $120 extra in each case...

But my point was that if you happen to subscribe to the HDTV bundle you are already gonna get the SD versions of the US networks so in my case there's not a whole lot of "value add" in converting from the old package to the new. I'd be paying much more for the same number of channels.

Looks like you and I are in very similar vote! Your setup is similar to mine and I did the math a number of times. I too would be paying more for the same number of channels.

People...
Do you not think Bell did some analysis on what channels people wanted most and then split them up?

Even though there may be some ways that it is cheaper..........they are not stupid. It was another way for a rate hike. No matter which way I calculate it out I pay more with new pricing.

You can argue that you get some new channels however.

Now that January is upon us, has anyone been made to switch to the new packages against their will yet??

Just got my bill which takes me to Feb. 7th. No mention of having to switch from my old package.

Same here. Just got my bill and no mention of a forced package change. Perhaps this only applies to those with very old packages?
