RUMOR: Microsoft to buy Capcom

The last 2 games they've done have been EXCELLENT (Kameo and Viva Pinata) and Conker on the Xbox was great too.

Yeah, Conker was great on the Xbox. However, you have to remember that that was just a remake of the old Conker. And though Kameo and Pinata may have been good games, I personally think the two games would have sold better on a Nintendo console.
 
Fighting games with a 360 controller? I don't like the sound of that. That would be pretty lame of them. Rare turned to shit as soon as Microsoft bought them....so if they do buy them, which I don't think they will, I hope they'd keep them multiplatform. But that's pretty unlikely.
 
Yeah, and they'll do that by making Capcom develop exclusive titles for the 360 to sell more systems and eventually more games...etc. Not to help the competitor companies.
 
Why would they bail? I mean, who knows how they feel about Microsoft. You're assuming they have the "microsoft sucks" attitude...which I'm kinda doubting. They'll probably be bought too....
 
Rumor Smash: Msoft Not Buying Capcom

The Rumor: Word is beginning to trickle down to fitbabits HQ from several independent sources that Microsoft has all but completed the purchase of Capcom. I'm not going to spell out the ramifications if this one is true, but I will mention two words and a number - Resident Evil 5

The Smash: While no one will officially comment on this rumor (We all know and love that song and dance). It appears this particular bit of gossip has roots in a thread that hit NeoGaf on Jan. 10.

It started out as a rumor that Microsoft was holding a press conference in Osaka the next day. The thread quickly turned into a place to shoot off pie-in-the-sky theories (go figure) about what might happen during the mystery press conference.

Among the odd ideas was the now smashed rumor that Hideo Kojima was putting together a 360 Metal Gear Solid title.

While not outright denying it, when contacted by Kotaku a Capcom rep called the story an "old rumor." Brian Crecente
 
hmm, let's see. both are fully analog, have two clickable thumbsticks, one d-pad, 4 top buttons, and 4 shoulder buttons.... i still don't see the big difference
 
Microsoft told Rare to take a lot of what they had planned for Kameo out of the game and try to make it a tad more "adultlike" and totally ruined the game...

Conker sucked on the XBOX in my opinion, the graphics weren't refreshed all that well, and as much as i played it, I really, really, REALLY fucking hated the multiplayer... the original style multiplayer was much more fun

Perfect Dark Zero? worst game EVER.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies? nah... pass.

Viva Pinata so far is the best game to date that Rare has put out for Microsoft... if they fuck up Banjo when they finally do it, I'm going to be kind of pissed off.

This is why Rare shouldn't have been so fucking whiny and stayed a second party or possibly moved into the third party realm to contend with other major players. "Buy us outright or give us our company back!" ... well, I don't see Rare being too successful at the moment, so giving the company back and allowing them to be bought as a first party Microsoft developer is just Nintendo's way of saying "sorry, we told you so"
