RUMOR: Microsoft to buy Capcom

more specifically i hate contracts that allow for exclusivity. ps3ers should be able to play gow, forza, etc. us 360ers should be able to play god of war, metal gear, etc.
 
When companies buy out other companies, they usually take an estimation on 3 or 5 years of potential sales as an independant company and add that to the cost....sometimes even up to 10 years of estimated sales/growth...so it would cost them a shit load of money, but Capcom would be sitting pretty on that money and MS would make it back over time by gaining customers that want games like Resident Evil 5 / Lost Planet / Dead Rising 2. I read about this a while back....a friend of mine works in the 360 game marketing department and he told me when Dead Rising was about to come out that they were already in Negotiations to buy them out (I got a TON of Dead Rising promo shit at that time too, some really cool shit)....I bet it'll happen.

I dont really give a fuck..just give me RE5!!! They said the end of 06, now it's what, end of 07? So pissed. It better be good.
 
I really don't see that happening.. I don't see it being in capcoms best intrest.. they make shitloads of money from sony/microsoft customers as is..
 
It happens...but typically it's an upstart developer that has one big hit and then bam...in comes the predator. It's kind of odd to see a company that's been around so long and in such good standing linked to rumors like this. I don't know Capcom's financial situation though, but holy shit, they are the fucking samurai masters of milking a title for all it's worth.
 
that's all fine and dandy but there were also talks back in the day of Capcom becoming soley a 2nd Party developer for Nintendo, as Rare had been... both companies felt it was better if they didn't do that, as they'd have a lot of pissed off customers on the capcom end.

I don't think Capcom is stupid enough to let themselves be bought up... why risk becoming what Rare has become? which is basically a minniscule part of Microsoft.

Same went for Bungie though, I still won't play the new Halo's just for the simple fact that I believe the original Halo BEFORE Microsoft bought them out was far superior
