Rule about three cars stopping at a stop sign?

A friend of mine told me that if three cars stop at a stop sign ahead of you (like if you're all right behind each other in a line) then the next cars don't have to stop. I had never heard of this before so I didn't really believe him. I just heard the "rule" again from a totally different source, so I tried to look it up but found nothing.

Has anyone else heard of this? And if anyone knows where I can find this written down somewhere that would be great. Thanks!

No, you don't necessarily have to stop as well. But it's more safer to stop and still see if any cars are coming.

Each car must stop, then proceed when safe! If you don't, you are guilty of running the stop sign.

You can't run a stop sign just because there are other cars in front of you.
I'd never get in a car with someone driving that told you that. They are dead wrong and no doubt have other dumb, bad habits.
