I had taken my 04 Dodge Ram into Firestone 2 weeks ago to have the transmission fluid change. Over the past to weeks I notice a light whining noise while driving. While on a trip this past weekend I notice the whining noise seems to be getting louder and my truck has a hot metal smell to it. If I put the truck in gear and drive (approximately over 35 mph) i will start hearing the noise, but if I shift it into neutral and step on the gas it makes no noise. Is this noise related to my transmission? If so, what can it be?
