Anyone still make a phone that'll do RS232? I like its driverless aspect, although I might settle for either of these alternatives:
1: A USB-tetherable phone that appears as a bone-stock standard serial port, such that I'd be able to configure dialup networking with a vanilla XP SP2 install, needing no drivers whatsoever.
2: A Bluetooth-equipped phone, whose data capability appears as serial-port profile, such that I could pair the phone with an Aircable or Bluesnap dongle, and plug it straight into the RS232 port of an old machine.
The RS232 cable on my old Nextel has pulled me out of sooo many tight spots, by being driverless and Just Plain Working on whatever machine I stick it to. Alas, the hardware is decrepit and the lack of basic features like speakerphone and voicenotes has really started to piss me off, so I'm looking to upgrade. Do I stand a chance of keeping my "instant internet" capability with a new phone?
