Royal Wedding; did any black person (around the world) laugh their socks off at...

...Sherri Shepherd's jape? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1382074/Royal-wedding-2011-The-Views-Sherri-Shepherd-asks-Where-black-people.html

I most certainly laughed - treating the jape in a far different manner than the Mail did, inserting the size-fits-all word 'controversial' to their story. Of course Sherri and her lot mocking the dress fashions of other Royals (including the top honcho; QE2) was a bit sneery - well...showing the other side of America which is taken on by people of all colours.
Or did most of us keep away for obvious reasons? One of whom being this story, ending with; 'Another senior officer said he hoped an unofficial army of "Royalist middle-Englanders" lining the route would deter any spontaneous protesters'

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20110429/tuk-police-arrest-18-along-royal-wedding-45dbed5.html

Also laughed at the 'un-named' officers (if ever there was one) hope, but in the England of 2011 with young black kids acting like morons with guns they can hardly control (mostly in London & Manchester), anyone of a certain shade who says anything 'out of turn' in the tea-room, and white people being terrified not entirely by crime, but the fears thereof, most black people who just might remember how they were treated in the time before and after the last Royal Wedding, will be going about life far from SW1, wishing the couple all the best, for I doubt we would want to be spied with hooded-eyes for most of the afternoon by Mrs. Howard-Smythe, with binoculars and mobile-phone close to hand!
It may be a jape - but suspect many would be able to answer Sherri's part-question also.
I fear the equally old "Wise words are spoken in jest, but they don’t compare with the number of stupid words spoken in earnest" might beat your slightly misquoted diamond from Abraham Lincoln; "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" (well - in this particular question, anyway...which makes me feel glad I'm not on here often!).

Well, while I didn't watch Sherri Shepard (she's a bit of a sell-out), I'll point out a bit of Black irony: The Royal Family actually has African roots...:) They should thank Queen Charlotte for their love of parties and stylish "Church Lady" Hats..:) *cue the "steel drums"*

I am afraid I did. This is Sherri with her knowledge of the UK beyond the part of London many from her country tend to rush to as son as they reach Heathrow.
I spent a few months in the US, and would watch The View - which made me think a bit of the equally dire Loose Women here in the UK, where they can also spend an hour showing us all what kind of chips they have on their shoulders. Remember one episode of The View, with them talking about how important the UK was in the scheme of things nowadays (this was around 2007), and Sherri was making a point about us thinking more about politics across the English Channel, rather than across the Atlantic - and as comedienne, would play the clown, which of course will be appreciated by people who know her style.
Just a shame the Daily Mail showed her what kind of chip they themselves have on their shoulder.
I wonder how we will all feel when the 'alternative comedians' of the UK start to unleash uppercuts of their own, once the excitement is over? Will the equally chippy and anti-American SW11, who also expresses disgust at 'overweight and badly dressed' women express the same open-mouthed horror when some 'comic' on late night Channel 4 tears both the royal couple, and the million (who watched on the streets) to shreds? What kind of 'card' will that be (as in 'race')?
The 'republican card', perchance?

She's an ignorant idiot, it was a Royal wedding in England, what did she expect, steel bands and salt fish and akie? I'm sorry the wedding didn't cater to her needs but it wasn't her wedding, it's not about catering to her.

Was she really paid to do that? What a waste of space, oxygen and money! Some one ought to tell her that it's often better to keep quiet in case people think she's stupid than to open her mouth and confirm it.

Looking at this over weight and badly dressed woman, she's got some front to critisise what people were wearing at yesterdays wedding. Talk about showing what an ignorant b*tch she is. When have Americans ever had any dress sense for a start?
There were plenty of black people in the crowds watching and several were asked their views about the events.
As for in the Cathedral, there were a couple of black and chinese boys in the choir, black dignitaries form overseas, the Asian couple who run the village shop where Kate lives, the lovely guy who is head of Centre Point, the Asian wife of some MP and several others.
The unnamed officer was referring to any terrorists and protesters who might have tried to cause trouble not black kids with guns. Why would they want to cause trouble at the wedding any way even if they were present.
Sherri Shepherd strikes me as a typical `chippy. Always trying to pull the race card at every opportunity.
