Is everyone looking forward to this? Maybe feeling a little sad as its the very last from the trilogy?

Also, is Choices Direct a secrue, good website to get this title from for

Got mine this morning from DVD Pacific.

ntsc R1

they cut the R2 EE's

just to add, the films are complete they just cut some extra bits from the R2's

I wish I'd known this before I bought the region 2 - just checked on CD-WOW and it looks as through the Region 1 and 3 versions are 10 minutes longer  . Can anyone confirm this?

the 10 mins thing is probably more of an NTSC vs PAL TV system anomoly.

PAL films: 25fps (sped up by around 6% from 24 fps to avoid flicker)
NTSC films: 24fps (TV system runs at 30fps or 29.97 fps depending on what you read)

I guess that they are mastered from very similar masters. The brain doesn't notice the difference that much, other than the audio and/or music is sometimes shifted up or down by a semitone.

Thanks for that, Tadpole - I was getting quite peeved about this!

However, if anyone has any other info I'd be grateful as I'll probably be sad enough to buy the Region 1 instead if there IS a significant amount of additional footage.

We're really excited in my house - have a whole LOTR day planned to watch all three extended editions (yes, we are very sad! :p )

Just wish I could have the experience of seeing the EE's in the cinema - that would be fantastic. Roll on 10 December!

I planned to do that on one of the Xmas holidays - what with the extra two days this year. When I mentioned this I got poopooed by my mates. But it is surprising how many have since asked if they can come round for the day :p

Mine still hasn't arrived! It's been six days and i'm hoping it's the pre-xmas post thats holding it up. Have to wait 14 days until anyone can do anything! :(

The manufacturing quality on them is once again very poor. I had to go through 3 today before I got one which is at a decent standard. Complaints inxluded scratched disks, torn booklets, torn dvd case. Even the one I have now is not exactly perfect but I can be bothered to change it again.

OOOOOOOO im getting excited!!! hubby will be coming home with this tonight from work!! be great to see all the extra scenes in the movie!!! better get the kiRAB to bed early tomorrow to be able to watch it happily!! :D :D :D

I've just flicked through the extra parts (I'm saving the whole thing for tomorrow with a mate) and was impressed with the Saruman conclusion as well as Aragorn and the Palantir scene. I've not checked out Discs 3 and 4, but definitely worth the 19.99 I paid in Morrisons (with free motion sensor Gollum toy!)

I would love to do that. I tried FOTR:EE then TTT:EE but only got to about half way through TTT and got bored. *gasp*

and these are my most fave movies of all time. :)
