Rooted G1

What does it mean to have your G1 Rooted. I was looking around at some themes and it says someone them will only work once you have a Rooted G1, so I was wondering if its legal, lol and if so how you do it.

Yeah it's pretty legal - at least to the extent that you will not be subject to any sort of punishment

A rooted G1 is one that has replaced the google firmware with a modified version. One that allows root/super user access to the lowest level of the OS. In the case of most posters here, it is modified for the following reasons:

Auto rotate
Caches, and Apps on SD card
Theming
Wifi tethering
multi-touch
custom boot screens
task manager

and a host of other things. If you liek to tinker, you should search our forums here for , "how to root".

Please also search for all new subjects before posting, there are about 200 posts VERY similar to this.

Okay i have a question and i hope you guys can help me. I have a rooted G1 Super Eclair rom and my phone keeps rebooting by itself. and the battery is not dead and it is plugged in. I hope one of you can help me. I downloaded this thing called setcpu that was supposed to help and guess what? it didnt. well... i please if you guys have any info, please get back to me cause i dont want anything to brick my phone.. yall input would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw super eclair is so cool... Froyo on g1 is also cool but i got rid of it cause my stupid home button and talk button wasnt working.. Lol
