Roosevelt was so popular Republicans had to pass a LAW to keep the public from

future

voting for him...? ... Do you think that's Republicans plan again with Obama?
Roosevelt also was President during tough times, most of which he had inherited (also after 8 years of Republicans in the White House - go figure!) but people kept voting for him because they perceived that he cared - 4 TIMES!
Do you think Republicans will try to pass some law so Obama can't run too?

No. They used up their ammo after FDR. Even they couldn't be that two-faced. But I could see them doing almost anything else to throw the office up in the air.

I am assuming you mean Franklin Roosevelt and not the Scion of the Republican Party, Theodore "Old Bull Moose" Roosevelt.

And it wasn't exactly a law, it was more like a constitutional amendment (XXII). And they already tried to repeal it so Ronnie Ray-gun could run for a third term. I doubt they would push for a single term limit for president.

School time for you:

Do you understand the Roosavelt was SO LOVED(sarcasm) the the twenty second ammendment was ratified so that NO ONE COULD EVER DO THAT AGAIN.

Truman was the exception because he was not ELECTED into his first term and declined a third.

We all know you talking about "New deal" "big government" FDR not "rip your to shreds for looking at him wrong" "kills men for fun" Teddy Roosevelt but you should probablt still specify when talking about the two.

nahhh, they learned their lesson there. after FDR, they rammed through the 22nd amendment limiting the president to two terms. then when it looked like reagan had enough popularity to win a third term, there was talk of attempting a repeal. they backed down pretty quick when the democrats made it plain they'd crucify the GOP publicly for their hypocrisy.

they won't do anything that could conceivably limit a future popular republican president to one term.

besides, when they pushed the 22nd amendment through, they had control of both houses of congress and 3/4's of the state legislatures. after bush, it'll be decades until they achieve that kind of hegemony again.
