Roof Bike Rack, which is the way to go?

I just got a new car and id like to get a roof rack. Ive only ever had trunk racks so i dont know what to get. I want something that can travel easily (600mi + trips) since i will be doing a great deal of travel in the upcoming years with my job. I want something very stable and easy on the bikes ( a specialized allez pro road bike, and a trek 6500 mt bike). Id like something that is safe for the bike, my car, and stable. I have a honda fit so its a small car. All advice is appreciated thanks
