RONIN - Third best car chase movie ever.

Yep, like French Connection, filmed at real speed, in small hours Chicago in the spoof FC sequence under the overhead railway, and wrecked the (brand new and ready to open) shopping mall at a cost of millions of dollars.

Not sure if it's true, but Blues Brothers was rumoured to be the most expensive film made at that point, due to the shopping mall and wrecking several hundred car scenes.

Got to be, this is how a car chase should be, edge of your seat stuff for several minutes, a white knuckle ride in the comfort of your lounge.

The bit where they're driving the wrong way in the one way tunnel

I've not been watching all the film, but in the chase that ended about 5 minutes ago I thought DeNiro was good - he looked really tense, as you would be.

I saw a documentary a few years ago, and the best car chase scene is supposed to belong to none of the films mentioned so far in this thread.

It was a low budget film from the seventies, and apparently they did the whole car chase thing illegally.

Can't remember the actual name of the film though.

i cant believe that people are even mentioning films like fast and the furious in the same thread that contains Bullitt.

if you drive a car with gears, then i dont know how you can see fast and the furious series as anything other than a comedy :D
