And thankfully our government has stepped in and enacted laws to prevent businesses from doing this.

You want to run a barber shop that refuses to serve Jews? Go to a country that allows this. You have that choice.

OBVIOUSLY, the government had to step in because society is incapable of changing itself, amirite.

I mean, why else would people need to be babysat so thoroughly as to be forced to hire people based on the color of their skin rather than their qualifications.

Tell me how exactly you think the business owner is harmed by having to serve all patrons, regardless of race, gender, etc.?

Contact the federal government. This business model caters to only race.

I'd say more, but I figure you'd just sell my argument to a news station behind my back.

Seeing as how you have a track record of doing that.

Ill agree that was a bad analogy.

But is it worth taking steps backwards in Civil Rights for everyone just to prove a point about Government interference in Business?

Yes, I believe that the nation is much better off with Civil Rights laws.

...and since we live in a fucking democracy, you could say that society DID change itself.

Okay, heres an example of why I believe the government has a role in the private sector:

Accommodations for the handicapped. For many businesses, the costs of outfitting the entrance and parking lot to comply with regulations outweigh the business that handicapped folks would bring in. From a business standpoint, it might be easier and cheaper to just write off those customers - if not for ADA.

If not for the Americans with Disabilities Act, why would any small town store, dental office, or office building feel the need to invest in renovations? The ten or twenty folks in wheelchairs in the small town would just be SOL.

Always will be there. As long as you have groups like ACLU, and other minority ONLY groups.

Breeding ground for hatred.

shh.

And let's be honest, the only places that didnt serve blacks were the high class joints. Every other place served blacks, they just couldn't sit in the same area, or they had to wait, or they had to enter the back door, etc...

And if a black barber REFUSED me service based on my race, I would have a grievance. What is so hard to understand?

Mind you, it also pisses me off when black people say "all white people are racist," or "white people have the money and aren't giving us none."

I feel that that attitude is just as unhelpful as saying "black people don't have money"

the government denies me access to welfare because of my social-economic status.

Why is it such a big deal for you to discriminate based on income???

You're not being forced to provide a service. You're not being forced to run a business, or work for one.
