Rollover minutes: wish I could do this...

I was thinking about this recently. I have the cheapest plan possible with Cingular/AT&T... and I don't think I've ever made so many calls that I've used up my minutes, let alone dipped into my rollover minutes.

I wish AT&T had an option where you could convert your rollover minutes to data time or something so they don't go to waste. I'd like to be able to send the occasional picture or get on the occasional website with my phone but not enough so that I can see myself dishing out and additional $20 a month when I would never use it that much.

Anyone think they would ever do something like this?

Or anything to get credit for unused minutes... maybe a free game? More credit toward an upgrade phone? Something...

Who's with me?

another option would be, and I don't know if they might already do this but, if they sell phone cards with data time on them, like Go-Phone cards or something but for media access?

data is where at&t makes a ton of money, I mean they have some of the highest prices for data out of the carriers. Like Ellen said, don't see at&t doing this anytime soon.

well, one can dream. ;)

I wonder how much of the money hey get from data is from people not realizing they're going to pay to text message a friend because they don't have it in their plan...

my dream is that they give unlimited incoming text messaging...it's so ridiculous that they charge people for things they cannot control.

They get away with it because no one's gonna sue over 10 cents.

My company is working on a solution for this problem -- our goal is to enable mobile phone users to redeem their unused minutes to make purchases. We're in the process of developing the features, and would love to get some feedback from real-world users. Would you be willing to be contacted for a customer interview?
