ROGERS vs BELL

Hi all,

I work for a small company and manage the blackberrys. We are currently with Rogers (in Calgary, Alberta)...

Bell has approached us and offered to buy out all Rogers' plan, upgrade our bez server for free and better\cheaper rate plans, cheaper hardware upgrades as well...

Can anyone tell me the disadvantage or advantage Bell has with data\voice, the services they provide, the reception coverage across the country.

Also from what I hear GSM network is a whole lot better than TDMA, Bell currently uses TDMA and how would that affect us in the long run besides over seas???

Thanks in advance!

from th soudns of it it sounds good but the truth is rogers is better reception and al that and personaly bell is crappy with rogers you can just buy your phoens unlocked and hook it up to your server with bell you have to do an upgrade with them
so rogers all the way

Better quality with Rogers, more reliable, full digital coverage .. no analog service like bell and telus..if you go outside their digital coverage in town..your data phone is useless lol. And yes with GSM you can actualy travel with your phone.

Bell has no Analog service anymore... They turned off that service... It was in the papers a couple of weeks ago.
Take the offer Bell is giving you and tell Rogers you want this from them. If they refuse. Tell them you'll have no other solution than switch providers.

Other than that. Rogers is your better solution for full digital network.

On the call quality side, I would favour on Bell's side. I used to work for Bell Mobility. Internally, I know they manage the company to product a measurably better call quality than competitors.

For network coverage, I believe the advantage goes to Rogers. I don't have data to support this.

On the downside, the biggest one is device selection. Anybody who has followed the BlackBerry story for very long has realized that RIM has produced devices for GSM-based networks first. CDMA devices follow significantly later. (No CDMA-based Pearl or Curve yet.)

Finally, another plus for Bell is data rates. Bell's data rates tend to be significantly lower than Roger's.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!!!

We are debating if we should take the offer from Bell, they gave us a loaner for a week now and it seems to be good (So far). Rogers came in and notified me how bad Bell is doing (as I was expecting) but Rogers are going to get back to me and see what they have to offer…

Anyways we haven’t made a final decision yet, but it comes to on how good Bell’s reception is, I know a few users cannot get a good signal in there basement and odd areas, but telus works, (have to test Bell).

I am aware that GSM is the best technology out there but what can GSM do that CDMA cant in northamerica?

Thanks!

does your company travvel a lot because if you do then go with rogers if nto liek then go with bell or wat ever you like but rogers is better in my opion because theirs allways a way to upgrade your phoen as soon as phoens come out because their unlockable! its all aobut your needs.

Yes if your travelling far Bell is better. But i like rogers my parents has been with them since 1990 when they where known as cantel back in the day.. Rogers i say is the way too go.

But at the end of they day the cost of both is way too high... They must think after paying out 90% tax up here that we have lots of extra money to give to them...

To the original poster...just advise Rogers of Bell's offer and they will do much better. Similar happened to us...we're a larger corporation and they actually supplied us our 7290 BBs (200+ units) free of charge. ...and a sweet deal on the 8700 which is our model of choice as it can run on the EDGE network.

You'd be surprised what you can get if you ask!
