Rogers N8 Unlocking

I have been using the N8 for just over a month, and want to get it unlocked.
I have not seen any store doing it (got a previous Motorola phone unlocked through a phonestore in Toronto), but am not sure about web-based services. I am concerned that I am allowed only three tries, as I have also heard that the 'unlocking code' might not be available yet.

Has anyone had any experience unlocking Rogers N8?

The Rogers Nokia N8 can be unlocked just as easily as any other Rogers phone. Codes can easily purchase from unlocking websites or on Ebay.

The Rogers firmware restricts users from setting the network to GSM or 3G only mode. The Rogers version also does not automatically set up data access points if you've unlocked the phone and insert another company's sim card in the phone. Rogers WAP, MMS, and internet access points are write protected and cannot be altered or deleted but adding other data access points is still allowed. Other than that, Rogers has had a Rogers splash screen inserted that displays whenever the phone is turned on and off. Those are the only things that I know of that Rogers has really messed around with. The Rogers firmware still allows users to use any MP3 file as a ringtone, unlike some previous Nokia models that Rogers has released. Other than that, the usual Rogers "value-added" software (examples: urMusic, My account, other misscellaneous stuff that almost no one will ever use) is installed with the usual Rogers color scheme and icons that don't fit in and look out of place. The Nokia 5800 actually let users delete the Rogers software through application manager so it might be worthwhile for Rogers N8 users to try the same.

Better to just unbrand the phone all together and get rid of everything Rogers. I would hate to run into a surprise down the road where I find out that rogers decided to limit something I needed

Thanks for this.. Yeah I wasn't sure.. When I was buying my N8 I read a few forum posts with people saying the Rogers N8 didn't have unlock codes available yet... I bought mine from NewEgg just based on the fact that I don't want to have to debrand/unlock my phone to make it work how I want it to =)
