Rogers customer - Lost my cell and buying new - how can I get the best deal?

Lost my cell (sony ericsson w580i) yesterday. I been a customer for 5 years, and was 2 years into my 3 year contract. After I got them to block my phone, Rogers gave me 2 options
1) Upgrade - I'm qualified for one after 2 years, but I need to extend my contract then.
2) Downgrade - Rogers will give me a Nokia 2220
I also have a Samsung p207 at home that's in excellent condition. I want Option 2, but a better phone. How can I get the best deal? I heard there's these "credits" a person accumulates from being a customer, can I leverage this to get a new phone, but maintain my plan? If so, please give me details on this credit thing.
