rogers cell phone add on plan!! urgent help needed!?

i at the moment use rogers my5 for about $30 a month with three year contract
and i have been using it for two years
so i have about 1 year of contract left.
i want to do that 'add on' for my mom as she needs a cellphone now as well.
i understand that we are going to share 150 minutes for $40.

however they state that its only for three year contract.

i was wondering if i switch to that add on
will i have to start a new three year contract?? with rogers??
or will they take my two years and let me just use the add on for one year contract??
