Rocky 7, Rambo 5

I know this thread is from a while ago but there are more and more reports coming out now regarding rocky 7.

Rambo 5 is for definite, its been green lighted and sly will move to that after completion of the expendables.

But apparantly he is actually really serious about doing Rocky 7.

Rambo 5 i dont mind, he could make it good, but Rocky should be left alone me thinks.

What actually was wrong with Rocky 5 ? And yes I am a fan, and obviously a bigger 1 than you to own all 6, not to dismiss a movie simply because the rest of herd seem to not like it. This was a good movie, not the best of the franchise, but pure classic Rocky.

It was nice to see the Rocky story go back to a emotional aspect of the charcter. After the terrible cold war USA Vs The Soviet Union propaganda / WWE style boxing crap that we saw in the comical Rocky 4 I could not wait for the 5th instalment and to go back to the serious story telling in Rocky that we had not seen since the original.

Rocky 5 showed us a boxer who had it all, looses everything ( and nearly his family ) and how he deals with the fact he cant get in a ring anymore due to age and long term injurys. So he finRAB a hot young to be prospect 'Tommy Gun' and trains him.

When Tommy turns his back on Rocky due to greed and asks him for that street fight I really thought that was 1 of the best moments in the Rocky Franchise history.

Yeah there were some flaws, like Fighting in the street with a head injury. And Tommy Fighting Rocky straight after winning a world championship bout to name a couple. But lets face it, all the Rockys after the original have had some flaws. But the emotional aspect of Rocky 5 was pure Rocky at its near best.

The ending at the famous steps and statue with his son granted wasnt the best way to say goodbye to our fav boxer, and in all honesty Rocky Balboa was needed to finish the series off. But Rocky Balboa wasnt IMO the best ending either.

Rocky has no wife, a son he is not close to, and really dosent have much wealth or a life anymore. All he can show for his amazing boxing career is a small resturant. Apart from closing a chapter on his life by fighting and loosing at the end, I felt the way we say goodbye to Rocky was very much a ANTI-CLIMAX.

Rocky 5 deserves to be part of the saga and is in my dvd collection. And I still struggle to work out why Sly gives it a " 0" when he obviously would of read the script before deciding to act in it.

My Rocky Rankings

I'm a massive fan of the first four Rocky films, and a casual fan of Balboa. I just like Sly think V is a terrible film, which it so painfully is.

I've strongly disliked the film since first seeing it upon its release in 1990.

Simple as that really.

My favourites in chronological order:

Rocky III
Rocky
Rocky II
Rocky IV
Rocky Balboa

Wow, i'm stunned that you put Rocky 3 over the original masterpiece that is 1976's ROCKY.

Each to there own I guess, but very strange...

Oh, sorry. It's just in your Rocky rankings you have put Rocky 3 at the top of your list.

None of the saga can beat the original IMO.

Yes, because III is my favourite. Not the best.

"I pity the fool, and I will destroy any man who tries to take what I got!" :D

i actallu thought Rocky Balboa was quite good as it went back to being a character driven film like the first one but I think after doing that they have explored everything there is to explore now

but thats the point isnt' it

it's supposedly sourced from an interview with the man himself, and thus would not qualify as a rumour at all, if indeed, the verbatim quoting, is what he in fact said

unless of course it's the old chestnut of "having his comments taken out of context in the interview"

thank god for that, as the other one did include boxing and training montages, to me it was not 100% clear he was refering to Rocky Balboa, despite the primary focus, being on the mortality of getting older

bloody daft media mix up
