Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

Don't think this will work out for a couple of reasons.

1) It's very difficult to find good child actors and it is near impossible to imagine anybody else as Del Boy.

2) If the recent episodes of OF&H and most episodes of Green Green Grass are anything to go by,John Sullivan lost his touch years ago.

A better idea was the prequel/spinoff series about Freddy Robdal starring Nicholas Lyndhurst. At least that didn't have the task of trying to endear the public to a new Del Boy.On second thoughts, they might as well just make another episode of Only Fools for Xmas.

It's actually against the BBC's production guidelines to filmise HD productions- if you want a film look, then you shoot native 25p. Presumably the producers wanted a video look, but someone somewhere down the line decided to stick a film look on it- but they can only do it on the SD version, for the reason I mentioned above.

Another thing is all the people calling it "crap" and "not funny" have clearly missed the intentions of the show- it was a drama with a few laughs in it, not a sitcom. I watched it knowing this, and I enjoyed it a lot. People who hated it need to rewatch it realising this, you might enjoy it more.

I can't explain the title sorry :o but I can tell you I really don't like it! I really think this series could be a hit, but the title could ruin it IMO, the original 'Once Apun A Time In Peckham' is much better IMO

Most of this back story and the ages and dates of birth of the characters would be been written when he first started developing the series (the original OFAH series) I would imagine?

It's because rock salmon and chips was a popular meal back in the 60s. Went straight over my head - I agree, Brother, I'm Your Man would be a great title.

The pub that is used as the new Nag's Head (which looks different every time you see it from the outside!) is really near my flat in Greenwich, so I went for a pint there yesterday and they still have the sign up even though filming finished there a month back...

I watched a few of the OFAH episodes that were shown on Gold today, and I also again watched the Frogs Legacy the other night.

Rock and Chips has just enhanced my enjoyment of OFAH. When Del mentions his mum I now think of Kelly Bright as Joan. In a funny way Rock & Chips has enhanced my enjoyment of OFAH. Especially in the Frogs Legacy when Rodney asks Albert if he was like Freddy the Frog and Albert replies a bit but they were just rumours. You can tell then that Rodney knows that Freddy is his real dad.

I think John Sullivan done an excellent job with the back story, ok the dates were a bit sketchy but all in all it was so true to the references made in OFAH that I can forgive these small descrepancies.

Would love it to be great, but know it will be a let down. Seems they are flogging a dead horse now, if Sullivan wants to write something he should write a completely new sitcom.

I'd say because this was Joan's story and hers was a bittersweet tail of being trapped in a loveless marriage and never being able to find true happiness with the one man who really cared for her.

It didn't lend itself to the full-blown sitcom treatment, unlike OFAH which was about Del-boy's continually-doomed get-rich-quick schemes.
