Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

Very true, it's giving out Scatic according to Grandad.

I'm quite surprised with this so far, I wasn't expecting a classic, but it's been quite decent so far. Grandad and Trigger have been spot on though.

stateofgameplay. i think was determined to come back after 'time on our hanRAB, one episode woulfd have done. it's too padded out and some of the final, final episode was laughable for the wrong reason. smo of it was pitiful, especially the misguided attempt to repeat the book writing session from 'video nasties.

Yes the casting of Phil Daniels as Grandad was a very good choice. I was worried he wouldn't be able to pull it off, but he did, very well too.

I've just been looking on Wikipedia about Freddy the Frog and it says he died in 1963 when he sat on a detenator when he broke into a post office and his body was later found on the roof. It also mentions that Del found out the truth about Freddy Robdel being Rodney's real biological father from Uncle Albert at a party in the 1960's, so Albert must have been on the scene in those days as well.

So I'd say there is definately scope for a series or a couple of specials to take us up to 1963 at least.

I think the BBC would always have the utmost faith in John Sullivan and anything he does "Only Fools " related.

I bet there was never a issue over budget spending, as only fools and hoses is one of the jewels in the bbc crown.

The characters have somehow become strange parodies of their former selves. It's odd.

I'll give this a go, but I do wonder if it is going to fall in the same vein as The Green Green Grass and the recent OFAH trilogy, neither of which seemed to gel.

The title is bit clunky as well - as if they've been told to drop the 'sex and drugs' and have been left with the rather half-hearted 'rock and chips'.

I have to say this was excellent TV.

I would love to see a series of 1 Hour specials, so much more they can do and show us.

They could do something like the ~Doctor Who specials, Christmas, Easter ETC.

I really hope the BBC give us more, because as far as Sunday night went, this was by far the best thing on tonight!

I really think they should leave it be.

OFAH was a brilliant comedy, the Green Green Grass was appalling and I can't see this one being popular.

At least they did shorten the awful title but in doing so make it fairly meaningless.

Still think the original idea - Once Upon a Time in Peckham - was the best bet.

Sorry if this has been covered but can anyone explain how in Rock and Chips Del Boy acts as though he is 16 -18 yet he should actually be alot younger.

His Mum dies when Rodney is 4 and he is 16, making him only 12 when his Mum goes for the pregnancy test and he goes on the Jolly Boy Outing to Margate.
