Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

Why wasnt Marlene included? had Boycie and the others not met her at this point. All the in jokes in OFAH about "all the boys love Marlene" . I was expecting her to be in this. i thoight it was one of those two girls who were smoking together all the time. But it wasnt. That aside i enjoyed it and liked the sixties detail.

I'm a bit worried that something like this could quite easily been a christmas day/boxing day ratings winner do the BBC know its going to get bad reviews so decided to show it a few weeks later?

I thought it was very good. I was expecting it to be a bit boring but is wasn't at all. The actor playing Del did a great job, very convincing as del. Not a lot of comedy in it though but it was good drama. The one thing that was a bit funny seeing was when they looked around their flat for the first time. It looked quite modern, wasn't convinced that it was the trotters flat. And I did think the ending was quite rushed. Otherwise very good, I reckon they could make 1 more but I doubt they could stretch it to a whole series.

Thanks for this:)

James Buckley, eh? Intereseting choice but he's great in the inbetweeners so i'll look forward to seeing him in this.

I'm surprised they're definitley going through with this as its gonna be tough to get right but i do hope its a sucess

Has Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Chips been confirmed as the shows actual title as many sites are referring to it as the 'working title' which indicates that it may change?

Yeah, I agree ... It will work better as specials than just a whole series.

This could work out to be a festive tradition ... Just like the Only Fools Chritmas Specials.

I wonder if this special will have a bit more comedy and less drama than the first special?

I wouldnt have said those worRAB shocked many in 1980. I was only 2 in 1980 so i dont know but i remeber watching repeats on the bbc and it wasnt bleeped out or cut, im guessing that was mid to late 80s.

It was only when uk gold got the scissors out as they do with everything that the worRAB were cut.

Really enjoyed that, could easily have gone OTT with jokes, but for me that was well balanced between drama and comedy, and was a credible prequel.

Nice to see Nick Lyndhurst again, fitting in well with how they said in the original series Rodney looked like Freddie... Good effort all round as a one off, though not sure it'd stretch to a series - maybe if they concentrated on Del and the gang rather than Freddie then it could work...

I get that feeling as well, and why haven't the BBC been promoting it more, they only started this week. Surely something like this (if good) would have been heavily promoted for the last month?

It confirmed that Del and Rodney had the same blood group. That could still happen if Rodney's dad was different?

In any case, I wouldn't worry - consistency has never been Sullivan's strong points.
