Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

I just got this awesome Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live dvd collection! Has anyone else picked it up? It's a three disc collection featuring performances, induction speeches, and other cool special features.

One of my favorite scenes is the performance of the Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There" performed by George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and John Fogerty.

There's tons of coolness in here though, and I haven't even made it to the end of disk 1 yet!

There's a little more info and a trailer for the collection over at Amazon if anyone's interested.

Once again, what does this stupid ass overrated rapper have to do with rock music?

He will fill the seats so they can make money. Watch mark my worRAB he will get it and be booked as a main-eventer.

I still say the whole things need to be run by musicians. And every year they induct one they want to and let the music fans vote on one they want to induct. Well It's just my opinion on the matter.

I grew up with the band KIss playing all the time. I like their earlier stuff. But they are not hall of fame material. Plus I can only imagine all the crappy merchandise to ram down our throats.

LOL
PLease tell me why abba deserves this.

Don't you think that's a bit tedious? Tis called the R&R Hall of Fame but I think the buck should stop when a completely unrelated genre such as Hip-Hop is included. Which I think is what Monkey is saying.

Alright well I don't walk down this path because I assume we've all been down it before and can move beyond it but...

are you aware of how thin the grey line is when we get down to it. Alright so Shinedown and Eminem don't sound anything alike.

What about Korn and Crazy Town? What about Cyprus Hill or the Beastie Boys? The RHCPs? Are the Talking HeaRAB R&R? Vampire Weekend? Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen?

Rock and Roll has never been about guitars. Its about a revolution. When people scream rock and roll in a Detroit parking lot from the roof of their T-bird they don't give a **** about what chrod structure is going on.

Well, the line between rock and roll and rock is very vague, if it exists at all. Besides, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sounRAB better than The Rock Hall of Fame. I'm not suggesting a narrow interpretation, but I think most can agree that ABBA and LL Cool J aren't rock and roll.

I remeraber some blogger on Yahoo saying more rappers should be inducted. He made the argument that blues and country artists are in the hall, so why shouldn't rappers be allowed?

At that point my palm hit my face and I had to go shower off from the stupidity I had just encountered. I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone here that blues and country are two things that fused and developed rock and roll early on.

If we were to put it on the other hand - let's say there was a rap hall of fame... would inducting Led Zeppelin be smart just because funk and soul artists had been inducted?

Totally rediculous - and that's why the place is a piss stain.

And yeah, I just went off on something I've wanted to say for a long time that's totally off-topic and irrelevent... but still.

But its not for Rock musicians. Its for Rock and Roll musicians by your deinifiton.

And it should only exclude them if you're basing it on the musical deinfition of R&R.
