RoboCop (1987)

Robo 2 is watchable but is very weak compared to the first.Any movie with the setting of a lawless Detroit and featuring lots of action and machine cops is always worth a look :D

Wouldn't say it was more violent but it was just too cold and nasty. It sort of went too far IMO in the need to outdo everything else.

Absolutely amazing movie. One of my favorites of the 80's, along with Predator and Aliens.

The only thing that has really aged now too is the stop-motion animation for ED-209 when he falls down the stairs. Apart from that it still looks great.

And all the news bytes and adverts were hilarious. Robocop at the school with a message for the kiRAB.

"Stay out of.... trouble."

:D

But how many people when they watched it knew that it was about Jesus?

I bet I've spoiled the film for you all now.

I only found out after reading a book about Verhoeven and they showed a picture of Robocop "walking on water" near the end, and then I realised that he dies and is resurrected, in fact this film has the same theme as The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The original Robocop was great because it was a brilliant action movie and a great black comedy.

"I'd buy that for a dollar !"

Shame the two sequels were so horrendous.

Yeah, great film :-)

I remember seeing part of it on Channel 5 ages ago, and the infamous shooting in the store - "F%$k me, f%$k me" etc etc, was changed to "Why me, why me"!!!

The guy mentioned pn page 1 of this thread, who got splattered near the end turned out to be Jack Bauer's brother in 24! And Clarence Boddicker turned up in the last series of 24 too.

"Why, you must be some kind of GREAT cop.... Come in here all by yourself..."

"You...you burnt the f**kin' money"!!! - I love this one, especially the comedy way in which he kicks the driver as he says the line!
