Roaming PRL Again

I have the XV6700 and have tried so many times to update my PRL to the roaming PRL by dialling *228. I have asked Cricket to switch on roaming on my account.

My PRL never changes from 1040 no matter how many times I call *228 and do a soft reset.

Can someone please show me where I can download a roaming PRL that will not disrupt my Crocket Connect $50 per Month calling plan.

If there is nowhere to download it from, can someone send it to me via email or PM?

OK so i went back and re-read your post! if it said it successfully programmed your phone I would suspect that OTASP is working correctly but the switch is not giving you the roaming PRL meaning roaming is not enable on you account! i'd double check with cricket in addition to loading the correct PRL manually.

Note: Roaming PRL's are market specfic to ensure proper border coverage and minimize roaming in fringe areas where you still get a cricket signal. if you don't care about this then I THINK you should be fine with any roaming PRL.
 
i have triple checked with cricket and i have the roaming add on enabled

i am rarely in a 'fringe' area, usually I am either in my calling zone, or far away from it, if that makes sense

I ring cricket when I want to go out of my calling area.

I then pay $15 per month for the 200 or whatever minutes roaming

I called Cricket last week, asked to add the roaming add on.

They added it to my account, I waited 24 hours, dialed *228 cricket, says my phone is updated

I check the PRL, its still 1040 and Bingo, no roaming.

Although I only find out once I started my business trip out of town, so I had NO phone signal, as I couldn't roam and which screwed up my business neeRAB!

Do I need to give any extra reasons, explanations? I cannot think of any more information anyone could need?

I can bet you almost anything that if you do not get the roaming PRL during OTA you will not be allowed to roam by programming the PRL in your phone.

I travel to LA a lot and require roaming. After going round and round with Simple on this, the ONLY way roaming would work on my account was when I purchased the 55 dollar plan and got 100 roaming minutes. No matter what the CSR told me, I never could get roaming to activate.

test roaming before you leave your home area by going to a parking garage :)

Right, I have the XV6700
Up until 2 months ago, I had the kyocera slider remix
I have been on the $50 plan for a long time
When I had the slider remix, I would call in, they would add roaming to my account, and it worked once I dialled *228

I dont know what more I can say, but this is proof that roaming can work as an add on to a $50 plan

It used to work for me, now I upgraded to my new xv6700 i cannot roam

And this is a big problem business wise for me

im telling you, i used to do the same thing and you can not get roaming anymore without having the 55 dollar package. then you have to add internet for 5 dollars, and its 60 a month. if you dont have the 55 dollar plan, you cant get roaming. flex pay or any other way, won't work.
 
well. one problem you may have is that the system will give the rep a flag (pop up saying they shouldnt do what they tried to do) if they try to put the roaming feature code (either due to adding a roaming bucket OR upping to a plan to allow roaming) on a line thats listed as having CPE.

Most call center reps wont have the balls to override it, but it is within their ability.

Best bet is a full service store, if you get a good rep there.

First, have them update your equipment type to a recent phone like razr or krzr instead of CPE (reguardless of what kind of phone you actually have)

At that point, then any rep can add the actual roaming feature code onto your account without a problem.

Once the feature code is on there, then the OTASP system will kick you the correct prl
 
Is it possible to get a list of feature codes that we could post? I spent a month dealing with this roaming issue, and the only sure way I could get it to work was the 55 dollar plan.
 
nope. the $5 or $15 flex bucket packages do not add roaming to the account, but the $5,$10,and $15 roaming packages can be added to ANY plan. it sounRAB like you phone is just refusing to download the PRA through OTASP.
The official answer your going to get from cricket is that your phone does not support roaming. (or picture messaging, or downloaRAB, or mobile web)

(Also right now you can add web for $1 a month right now onto the $45, $55, and $60 in most markets)
 
i tried to get the roaming packages, and cricket would only give me the 55 dollar plan. then i had to add the web onto it for 5. i went round and round with them about the 5-10-15 dollar roaming package and they said it had to be 55 or 60 dollar plan.

anyway, maybe they'll straighten it out. they'd tell me i had roaming, and i'd get 1040. finally i just went with the 55 dollar plan, and bam i got 5044 PRL.
