Roaming/Conspiracy Theory?

Hey everyone,

I just switched over to the 40$ Nationwide Plan and *228 with PRL 4399 on my BB Tour which is fully flashed.

I was hoping someone would be able to help me with this specific topic:

So my home area is Buffalo, NY (14072) and I went to Albany yesterday (12220) where I encountered a problem; despite the fact that on the coverage map Albany is covered, I did not pick up ANY home/local service whatsoever. I called *611 to refresh my account and I was able to use my phone on "roaming" but still did not get a home network. After I left, I started picking up signal in Syracuse, which was kind of a relief but still frustrating.

Again, I was able to ROAM, but did not get home service.

Now, I'm in Niagara Falls, Canada, which is completely covered for roaming, but I get a message saying "10, T, 2, your phone is not activated, please call *611 for more information"

The funny thing is when I call *611, it has been redirecting my # to 1-908-559-4899 and I have no idea what that nuraber is.

I've been trying to call Cricket all day yesterday (while in Albany after they refreshed my acct) and even all day today until now. At 9:20pm at night - NO ONE has picked up and they still claim that "agents are busy" which is highly unusual.

So, I was hoping someone could firstly address my roaming issue and secondly, if someone would like to either put my conspiracy theory to rest that perhaps i've been put on a "blacklist" or simply that Cricket has been receiving a ridiculously high volume of calls lately.

Thanks guys!

Sincerely,

Aleem M.

i think i've found the thread with the same issue...

at first, i got everying over the internet. nothing worked... i drove to the next largest city with a cricket store, they gave me a new, better phone, and the service worked there.

as soon as i left las cruces, nm and got home to deming, nm which is on their map for service, i am in roaming and cannot make or receive calls, cannot send or receive text, and no access to the internet...

what's going on? i'm on my third phone nuraber with them, and the people in the store seem to know what they are doing. i don't get that feeling that they are making stuff up, which i pick up on really quick!

perhaps there are some codes i can change in my samsung r-430...?

any help would be great. i'm on my last hundred minutes with my last provider and want to go to cricket, exclusively, but won't if the darn thing won't work.

thanks greatly for feedback!

forealz dud! They do it, like with my account I have 3 service calls per billing cycle after that I get the loop around. All agents are busy BS! I would suggest to call the 800 # and pretend that you are going to activate as a new customer, it'll take longer but you will get to a live rep eventually. Sometimes they can help just don't let them put you on hold.

Yeah, I'm having problems making calls and sending texts while roaming with the nationwide plan. I'm probably on the border where the network is roaming or not, but I was under the impression that a nationwide plan would handle all of that. I loaded the 4399 prl and it was great at first, but since yesterday, all I keep getting is the dreaded "your message to X can't be sent and placed into drafts" Ugh....Cricket....

me and my girlfriend both have the new $40 nation plan. loving it. but i put about a buck 50 on my flex ($1.50) and updated my prl because a rep said that if i have money in my flex, i will be able to roam and it will just deduct from my flex account at 54 cents or something like that... i had a feeling like it wasn't going to work, but tried it anyways. i do not have the $5 a month roaming minute package, nor did i specify that i wanted that $1.50 to go towarRAB roaming, i just added it, and updated my prl. so now "sometimes" my phone will have the roaming sign, i can't send or recieve texts, but i haven't tried to make any calls. my girlfriend also gets the roaming sign every now and then too, but she didn't add any money to her account. but sometimes i will loose service, and not go into roaming, but other times i will come close to loosing service and then it will switch over... i just wanna know if i should rely on this to be a valuable roaming deal, or if i should actually add roaming minutes... also why is my girlfriend roaming? she never added any money to her account, but she is also on the new $40 plan with no roaming minutes....

sorry, but i couldn't wait any longer... i was at the end of my minutes on my previous provider, and they still can get this phone to work! i think the cell towers are just not picking up cricket yet, or being over powered by verizon's signal...

thanks for the feedback.
