where can you find a list of cricket roaming agreements? i went to LA today, and had no roaming on verizon, but all the way between san diego and phoenix i have roaming.

curious, i need more roaming :P

you know what thats very odd cause i have a few ppl that go to LA alot and there cricket phone works down there and everyhing.... mmm >_> wtf? lol

You sure you have roaming active on your account? Did you have it activated and a *228 to get the roaming PRL? Also, if its a verizon phone with a good esn, just get a $30 inpulse prepaid card and DUAL NAM it with cricKet and Verizon. Its better for roaming that way.

OK I had the 1040 PRL which is why I couldn't roam.

Now, after reading through a few threaRAB, it seems PRLs for roaming differ per region? I have the 7741 prl from these forums.

I can't do OTA, so would this roaming PRL still work for me in LA or would I be best trying to find someone in San Diego with a roaming PRL and using it?

Snap, you cant OTA? Dangit. Did you try *22804? When i did roaming on my flashed phones i put a roaming PRL from a different area on my phone then did *228 and i got my areas roaming PRL. Is there anyone from sandiego you can pull the roaming PRL from?

I have a weird roaming problem.

I flashed a phone for a guy in Colurabus, which is on the coverage map. Guy calls to activate, and Cricket says they have no coverage in his area. So he uses my Zip, and gets activated. Goes home, has crap for service. So I sent him a Travel Time PRL. Now his phone will only roam, no home service. So I did some diggin in the PRL. The SID Cricket uses for its home service in Colurabus is actually a Sprint tower. So Cricket is leaseing service from Sprint in Colurabus. I created a Custom PRL for him, and changed the VZW Priority so he would no longer roam at home.

Just becuase his icon isnt on doesnt mean he is romaing or not romaing and i can make it look as if im romaing at all times when really im not... Or vise versa he might actually be roaming allthough that phone says he's not

Are you talking about colurabus ohio or colurabus georgia? Because i sent cricket a e-mail asking if their is coverage in colurabus ohio or not. Because on their site the local ohio map show coverage in colurabus but if your search by zip codes on the map is says their is no coverage what gives? P.S i sent that e-mail almost a week ago and still no reply...

Define roaming in that context? Because if Cricket is leasing the use of a tower from another carrier, and hes on it. Thats not roaming. Roaming = Incuring extra charges/requiring travel time.

The phone has roaming indicator for that reason, and will light up when its incuring extra charges. The PRL only shows a romaing indicator for roaming and vice versa.

First of all cellular antenna or "tower" are usually owned by a third party and leased to multiple carriers. A carrier may lease spectrum from another (as Amp'D did from Verizon). cricKet has their own spectrum licenses for the markets they offer service in. If your phone is using a cricKet SID on any tower you are not roaming. If you are using any other carrier's SID, you are roaming and you will get a "Thank you for using cricKet nationwide roaming service" message before your call connects. If cricKet is leasing spectrum from another carrier, and your phone is using that carriers SID, you won't get the roaming message. I don't think cricKet does this because the no roam PRL files contain nothing but cricKet SIRAB. If they did lease from another carrier, that SID would need to be in the no roam PRL so the phone would know to use it.This will occur regardless of how you jimmy the priorities and roam indicators in your PRL file. This is on a network level, the PRL file just gives the phone the option of roaming. Roam indicator is meaningless per say because I can turn it on or off or make it flash for any SID in the PRL by changing one nuraber in the file. If there is no agreement between carriers you won't roam no matter how you change the PRL.
