Road King Custom Upgrades...

I have an '04 Road King Custom too. Bought it used 2 years ago. The previous owner did just about everything I'd ever do myself to this thing. It's crazy. When I first got it, I was always looking at little things I could do to it like bolt caps, spark plug covers, shifter pegs, etc... Just little stuff. Everytime I'd come up with something, I'd go look and it was already on the bike. LOL! Sure did save me alot of money, but also sucked at least a tiny bit of the fun out of it.

The strange thing is that it seems like this bike was totally meant for me. Everything from the size to the look and little customizations.

I did add a PCIII and a few little things myself, though.

I have the bars pushed forward more now, which added to the height and gave it a much nicer look IMO. I'll get new pics sometime soon.

I am running the Mustang solo, with the removable passenger pillion to keep the sports look when not needed, the mustang is very comfortable I love it but I regret not getting the solo with back rest as I'm getting older maybe one day I'll them up for sale and get the one I need. who knows.

I'm somewhat surprised there are so many in here too . I live in a city of over 1million and I've only seen a handfull around here.

I've got the original RK Custom and like it better than any other RK model.
I've done so much over the last few years, mostly for comfort but not all. Its in the shop now having the duckbill removed and a SE style nacelle mounted tach added. Since the original Custom doesn't come with a tach this should make me feel much better and look better too.
My next plan is for a solo seat and probably going with the Mustang although I'm still undecided.
Two things my wife wanted were;
1. a bigger, more comfortable seat so I got a Saddlemens Explorer Special.
2. better footing, so I got the SE passenger floorboards. She loves them.

I wanted a no nonsense horn so we went AIR!!!! Loud as heck and looks good too.
I changed the leather bags over to the hard bags, added some chrome bolts, Michelin tires and custom paint.

Go with better cams and a tuner. You'll get better performance with good cams than you will with a 95" kit. Look at the Woods TW-6, everyone says they are special. If you elect to go with a 95" kit then look at the SE-255's or the TW-6. Both are said to be excellent.

It is a shame there aren't more of us. My FLHRS is now a true convertable. Detachable leather tour pack with rest, tall rest for short trips with large rack, windscreen (only for 2 up so we can talk), 3 seat choices with driver backrest. I have locks on my leather bags and with tour pack took 10 day trip with 2 up in comfort. Who could ask for anything more

This was taken with my crappy phone camera. I need to get some better pics and more recent ones since I've added quite a bit to the bike.
