Road Glide vs Street Glide

Which bike handles better and why?

A buddy of mine is a JMan HD mechanic and he has a Street Glide and swears by it

Now my new boss claims that his Road Glide handles better than any Harley he's ever driven

opinions?

Many, many threads cover this topic.

Having said that the SG will give you much better wind protection, but the RG with frame mounted shark nose is a dream to ride. Best I have ever been on in my 20 years of riding. In the twisties it reminds me of many of the sport bikes I used to ride. I easily forget its weight when riding. I love having the fairing low and out of the way compared to the inclosed feeling I get on the SG. It is the only Harley I would own. The SG is my wife's dream ride. Fits her like a glove and is lower to the ground (Unless you are talking about the RG custom).

The bike is the same. The only difference is the fairing. SG has fairing mounted on forks, gauges are closer to you. The RG has frame mounted fairing, gauges are further from you, plus you have the glove boxes in the fairing. RG seems to cut the wind better, especially crosswinds... the wind doesn't pull on the handlebars, which makes for an easier bike to ride in wind. Pretty much comes down to style for a lot of people. I thought I wanted a SG until I really looked close.... then got the RG. Very happy with my decision.... but each person has his/her own tastes. Either one would be a good choice. Just my .02 cents........

Whichever you are more comfortable riding! We also have one of each....and the Street Glide is a chick's bike!

Popcorn should be ready about now....

i had a 08 roadglide road for a year wanted a new bike bought a 09 streetglide rode the SG for a year and decided i wanted another roadglide. so i bought a 2011 and i couldnt be happier with the roadglide they handle the wind much better and they are very nimble at least the newer frame does.

I'm told the road glide is better if riding in windier weather.

I test rode a road glide before buying my fourth ultra classic because I thought i'd give it a try, but i just don't like the looks and don't like the stationary fairing.......my $.02

Road Glide's are better in every way...look better, handle better, perform better, period end of discussion! BTW, I may be partial...

I presently have an Ultra and regularly ride my friends RG.
I prefer his bike in the mountain twisties and mine on the highway.
The Ultra has better overall protection and I think it's just fine in the wind.
If you do much open road riding you may have to make some changes on an RG
to eliminate buffeting.
That said, my next bike may very well be an RG. I like 'em.

Test ride them both... and decide which suits YOU...
for ME.... the bat wing is too "in your face".... I like the spread out feeling of the sharknose.
except for the fairing.... there's no other difference in the two.

Either bike, you may find yourself tweeking on windshields/handlebars/seats to get it "right" (for you)

Protection? I think it's a toss up.... I'm as wet, or as dry, as my buddy on his ULTRA (EG) so I can't say ...
Folks claim, the batwing, will transmit wind shifts through the handlebars, while a shark, will not....
both great bikes.... but there's only ONE bike for you....and that's the one YOU select
