Road Glide Curse

Not Wild Prairie - I am sill waiting on a call from them for a test ride. They told me that they would call when they had one I could ride. Stop bay there yesterday and they had a black one sitting outside that had bug splatter on it, but no call. Seems they do not need to call a customer back.
I also see they charge $400 for set up.

I purchased from Rochester. Nice people and no set up fee. When I bought my 03 they were the only dealer that I called that did not charge a markup for an 100 year model.

The setup fee is really the dealer trying to recover overhead costs - and the fee varies widely. Here in California, real estate costs are reflected in the setup fee. Mountain View HD - a nice area between San Jose and SF Bay, charges $1199. They are a freeway location in an expensive area. Many dealers along the coast are $850 or more. The dealer in Bakersfield (moved into a new building on the freeway four years ago) charges $650. You find a dealer in a low-cost market and you will usually find low setup fees.

While in York visiting the HD factory I stopped in at a Dealer about 2 blocks from the factory. The shipping and set up there there was the same as in Fl. If in the market for a new bike I'd wait till around spring or summer next yr. You may be able to buy a lot of things cheaper by then.

So I guess I won't be helping you swap cams this fall huh? Congrats on the new ride. Hope to see you and the wife sometime soon.

Zach
